Since some folks sensibly avoid Xitter:
My biggest takeaway from tonight: in ’22 abortion rights had the biggest impact where it was literally on the ballot, less so when trying to draw the connection in candidate races. That has changed. Voters clearly made the connection that voting for GOP candidates=abortion bans.
Ohio came through! And Daniel Cameron, the trump backed McConnell protege, lost! Every other major GOP candidate for state government won though but I’ll take what I can get.
I highly recommend bookmarking this and referring to it every time another stupid poll about Trump winning is released (CNN, anyone? Jesus Christ, what morons.)
I Can’t Believe I Have to Say This About Siena/NYT Poll Panic.
From the October 4th, The Claw News:
There is a lot of bad data out there, mostly because of the face that it is almost impossible to collect it. So when I tell you there is a lot of bad polling, almost all of it, it does not mean I think the polling is intentionally bad, or done with a purpose of propaganda. It just means that Republicans are much, much easier to reach than Democrats. I have spoken about this before. It is one of the biggest reasons I saw the 2022 election going differently than most.
What the pollsters did not figure out, however, is that this is not a problem that can be fixed with weighting. As I have said, a young person that talks on the phone, is more conservative than one that likes to text. Generally, this cuts across all demographics. Republicans are more likely to participate. That said, there are some polls that do a good job of reaching their targets.
The NY Times assigned two reporters yesterday to complain that Biden made a big announcement of $16 billion in funding for Amtrak without taking time out to talk about the NY Times poll.

They’re showing no awareness of how politics works, just engaging in insular preening and possibly sucking up to their bosses.
The CNN poll is so grotesquely skewed that it’s cartoonish.
See my note above on how surveys primarily reach Republicans. Nobody else answers the phone.
Democrats had a pretty good evening. Here’s why that’s bad news for Joe Biden …
From the Republican Party’s spin machine.
George Will:
It beggars belief that Democrats will keep sleepwalking ahead with Biden
Yeah, because winning is bad … somehow.
Aaron Blake:
Top takeaways from 2023 election results — and what they mean for 2024
Quote: Democrats probably won’t stop panicking about the 2024 election — not with another poll Tuesday night, this one from CNN, showing Donald Trump leading President Biden.
Sure, dude. We are all aflutter about a skewed poll showing Orange Man winning among likely MAGAs.
Axios:
Poll shows Biden deadlocked with Trump and Haley in 2024 presidential race
Uhmm, I notice you didn’t mention the fucking poll was conducted in GEORGIA
Yes, yes, by all means tell us that Republicans are still winning. And then never retract it after you’re once again proven wrong.
It’s telling how this supposed analyst feels free to casually use words like “panicking” as he strikes the pose of the sober realist.
I think DC-based people like him are fighting hard to defend the viabilty of their vibe-based economy.

I’m feeling pretty good about my neighbors here in Virginia.
Rashia Tlaib, the only American-Palestinian in the House, was censured for saying “From the river to the sea.”
Anti-zionism is NOT Antisemitism.
Speaking out against the genocide of Palestinians is NOT antisemitism.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/thehill.com/homenews/house/4298890-22-democrats-censure-tlaib-over-israel-criticism/amp/
…I think…& this is just me talking rather than knowing that much about it…that repeated use of the specific phrase “from the river to the sea”…particularly from someone like her with a fairly high profile & no reasonable claim not to understand the reference that’s taken to be making…is at best counter-productive
…the censure thing strikes me as wrong in a number of ways…but saying that isn’t a good look under most circumstances…a guy in the UK got basically dumped by the labour party for using it despite explicitly bracketing it with a hope for all the people in the equation to live together peacefully?
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/oct/31/from-the-river-to-the-sea-where-does-the-slogan-come-from-and-what-does-it-mean-israel-palestine
https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2023/11/2/from-the-river-to-the-sea-what-does-the-palestinian-slogan-really-mean
People are being penalized, fired, and censored for expressing support for Palestinians whether they use that slogan or not. Tainting that slogan by linking it to antisemitism is a PR spin. They would have found a way to silence and discredit her regardless. I’m glad that she was brave enough to use the slogan. At best her wielding it is beacon of solidarity and bravery and not counter productive at all. The repercussions she faces are front and center and that says more about those who voted to censure her.
How fucked up is this? I’ve already seen a video of an Arab Israeli woman being arrested for liking a pro-palestinian post. Freedom of speech is a pillar of democracy.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.aljazeera.com/amp/news/2023/11/8/knesset-introduces-consumption-of-terrorist-publication-as-offense
…don’t get me wrong…I don’t think it’s as simple as her being wrong or the people trying to censure her being right rather than just of the right
…but it’s been clear for a lot longer than the current round of this misery that that phrase is more a hindrance to the cause she maintains she’s trying to champion & its distinction from the two equally genocidal but diametrically opposed projects that long ago hijacked it into an axiomatic example of sloganeering
…honestly…I can’t see how there’s a case where saying it is a net benefit that outstrips the ammunition it gives to people who don’t deserve any…let alone more…on both sides of that conflict…pretty sure you can find it in the likud charter, even
