  1. …sigh…it’s like the people who wonder out loud for a living “why is it like this?” & the ones doing [stage whisper] “so – I hear it’s like this…” until it has more in common with the note-passing politics of a classroom than a country…are…the same people?

    people are making fun of this but what if he pulled out the most badass speech out of his ass, huh?he looks at the speech on the podium and RIPS it up, and his advisors are like "Mr Starmer what are you DOING" and he's like "something I should have done a LONG TIME AGO" then he gets out a guitar

    …go on then…explain to me how slightly more of nearer a 1/3 than 1/2 of the people asked the question “who should run your council & get yelled at about pot holes & everyone having too many bins now & anything anyone finds their idea of antisocial & also have to budget for things almost nobody that even does vote really considers much less understands…in your little patch you couldn’t draw the edges of on a map?”…picked green or the blue that isn’t the old blue that the old people seem to like better now those blues put not-a-white in pole position…over the red with all the blood in the water…& how that equates to a full-throated call for the resignation of a prime minister everyone’s unsatisfied with almost as much as they find everything else unsatisfactory right now so it totally makes sense to have buckets of coverage for who might be in contention *in* his party…to go along with all the “could they beat nigel who we’re all all-in on totally being plausibly a that-BBC-guy-would-call-it-*really-in-tresting* next-shooter up on the pool table post the-other-sort-of-election-that-still-isn’t-a-means-of-electing-a-PM……that’s not due for a while yet…stuff

    …hmm…so…we interpret the results of local elections as though the voters answered whole suites of other questions they weren’t asked that relate to what they *would have done* if they’d done the same but it had been a national election…because…in practice of the 40% of those eligible that turn out for that…most of them think they picked the answer they gamed out the way the interpretation gets done & they’re speaking the same language…or…is the horse & cart basically interchangeable because the wagons are perma-circled & it’s basically a merry-go-round nobody gets off alive?

    …&…sure…reform councils have mostly broken every campaign/policy promise & jacked up the taxes they get to levy & still made the service provision somehow worse…&…keep having to drop their candidates for resembling their voter base a little too accurately to get away with…&…don’t seem to be able to field enough even-a-little-bit-serious heads to fill out the major offices of state if you did give them a shot…but…don’t worry about that…once you smuggle the NF part onto downing street the defecting tories coming home to daddy will cover that spread nicely so really it’s odds-on might-as-well-have-happened-already

    …&…see…labour lost council seats…which is like a lot of notes getting passed that say “becky hates kier”…& that’s why the fate of the entire nation but mostly the bloke nominally speaking for it is all on the line riding on this one speech

    …which…when your guy is known to have the style of delivery of those he does…is pretty close to sounding like you’re throwing in the towel…does it even matter what he says?

    …if less than half tomorrow’s columns on that aren’t already further than I am with the DOT when it comes due…I dunno…I’ll buy a candy hat so I can eat it or something…sorry…just…might be going to be a long week & that ring of the circus is not improving the overall show from these seats

        …this is probably why that name of the wind guy that regrets swearing off haircuts until the book’s finished is having a george rr martin grade case of writer’s block, I expect…even woodehouse admitted the names might be the hardest part?

    Some interesting things:
    1. The Bezos Post clearly feels the need to come out and defend the authenticity of the assassination attempts.
    2. The Bezos Post almost entirely frames this as a Democratic voter issue. There is no single reference to the HUNDREDS of conspiracy theories that circulate among MAGA.
    3. It’s not a Democratic thing. I’d bet serious money that the number of MAGA that have come to believe the attempts were fake are significantly undercounted and unreported by the Post.

    • It’s funny in a way because I’m surprised they don’t encourage that mindset. That would suggest they have a plan! I don’t think Team Trump is smart enough to even have a meeting about considering the idea of thinking about coming up with a plan! They’re just corrupt and insane, which is less a “theory” and more of a “I have two eyes and ears and have paid attention”
