Monday Mood [DOT 14/10/24]

Hope everyone had a great weekend! Do you get today off? I do not. I’m overrun with varmints at the house – we are having lots of fun, but the cats are all still segregated. They don’t seem to mind; they all seem fine. The dog is indifferent but I’m sure she thinks it’s too many cats. We are verging on crazy cat lady here, but just for a short time.

OMG they just got left out there for hours

  1. This isn’t the first time (and won’t be the last) that Trump’s campaign has left supporters high and dry without transportation or thought about logistics at an event. Who’s to say if that might carry over into his presidency? It’s simply unknowable, like Elon Musk’s politics, or Kamala Harris’s plans.

    • Can our horse race reporters who look into crystal balls and draw out long meaningful inferences about what Harris’s shoes say about her connections with voters use this as an indicator of the Trump campaign’s organizational skills?

Of course not! What could their ability to get voters somewhere possibly indicate about their ability to get voters to the polls? It’s a mystery! Unlike the Harris high heels.

        • Well, we need to report that he says he would be incredible in an emergency. That he said it is an indisputable fact. Was there an emergency four years ago that led to the deaths of over a million Americans? Not our job to remember. That’s for a different beat of reporters which won’t see the front page for the rest of the year.

  2. Stranding the people at the rally is deliberate. There’s no way that everyone on the Trump campaign “forgot” to have buses pick people up. Hell, the bus company would have pointed it out, simply because it’s money in their pocket.

Someone in the campaign said “we can save a lot of money if we don’t have the buses come back” and either that person or another said “yeah, they’ll figure it out themselves.”

Since Coachella is in California and Trump can’t win there, nobody in his campaign gives a fuck about those voters. It won’t matter if they’ve been alienated or if they die.

    • I 100% lean into “cheap” rather than “pre-planned” because his campaign is barely there. As always, this is a grift.

But it certainly raises the question of why on earth you’d have a rally there in October? The know-it-alls are pretending it’s some grand strategy but it seems like they just do whatever Trump wants and somebody clearly got him on the phone and convinced him to be there so they were there.

      • If you check out Loveshaq’s Thom Hartmann link below, his theory is that the Trump campaign is trying to help down-ballot races so he can use a majority in the House to steal the election. Seems a bit convoluted to me since there are no deep thinkers in Trumpworld, but it’s a theory.

        • Greg Palast has a similar theory…

          https://www.gregpalast.com/maga-militants-to-riot-on-december-11/

We like to think that Trump world has no deep thinkers but they do have some very motivated smart/evil billionaires and lawyers that are willing to see how far they can get with these legal theories since we can’t seem to hold anyone accountable when they are proven illegal & even treasonous.  In any other country, Trump would have been hung by now for treason or jailed for life as well as most of the Jan 6th insurrectionist crew.

      • As an aside, I’ve done marketing for decades and booked plenty of buses for events. “Pick up time” is on the standard contract you complete for the bus company. The point is that they want to know if the buses have time to handle other contracts between dropoff and pickup, or do they need to sit there and wait. And yeah, the prices change based on that.

There’s no possible way that was “overlooked.” Someone chose to not have the buses come back. Again, my guess is they didn’t want to pay the money, but who knows? Maybe they had some other half-baked strategy to blame the local government for it somehow. But my assessment is they just said, fuck it, let them call Ubers or the cops or the fire department or whatever, we don’t care.

    • 1 Fucking idiot hillbillies. Too much internet and not enough brains.

      2. Considering the kind of psycho he is, maybe the cat had a point shitting outside the box? Animals generally know who the psychos are.

      3. I wouldn’t be surprised.

  4. Remember the pearl clutching when Clinton made her honest  remark saying “you could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables. They’re racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic – you name it. ”

Trump has been lying his socks off  saying far worse things about far more people and it gets the usual reverse treatment by the political press. Yawns, horse race analysis, feeble fact checking, speculation that it’s smart strategy, but none of the outrage.

He just slammed Detroit with more racist idiocy. Maggie Haberman of course offered an explainer on CNN why he’s got a coherent strategy.

But here’s the Harris ad in response which just ran during the latest Tigers and Lions games.
