    • Can you blame any woman?

      Who would want to marry an angry gun owning violent asshole who thinks that gawd gave them the right to dictate to THEM what they can and can not do? Especially when the odds are “good” that he’s going to turn the guns he has for protection against immigrant drug dealing anal rapists on YOU.

      • Why do you think they are okay with rape & against abortion?  It is the only way their genes can be carried on.  Any woman that dates a Trumper has some serious self esteem issues.

      • It’s interesting in that their conclusion is that “women will have to compromise if they want a husband.” Uh, no. No, they don’t. They can be alone, for one thing. It’s not 1835. Women can have jobs now! And support themselves! Or even families if they choose!

        Also, since the dataset is completely fucked, as BDC points out, there isn’t any “marriage crisis.” Despite what Republicans would have you believe, men =/= Trumpers. It’s not even the majority of men.

      • Yeah vibrators are easily available and kids are too expensive anyways.

        It’s not like as a group, young women get a lot of benefits out of dating. And then as we get older, it’s like huh the odds are shitty given the available men around.

        • Full disclosure: I haven’t been in a relationship or on a date in (so long I am not sure)… maybe ten years? Anyone would have to compete with ME at this point. My space, my company, my silence (also my cat). They aren’t competing with each other. I have created an impenetrable, well decorated niche. You want to put your drink down where? Get out.

    • That Post editorial is the natural outgrowth of really bad thinkers who look at a data set from a single point of view and are completely unable to think about other perspectives.

      The Daily Kos response offers one good response — the Post editorial board isn’t seriously thinking about why people might feel this way, and gives equal weights to both sides. The Post also considers this a fixed phenomenon, rather than one which might be dynamic or even beneficial. It thinks of itself as an observer from an Olympian height, rather than a potential cause of what it defines as a problem.

      It helps to dig into who actually put together the study that this editorial is based on — The Institute for Family Studies, which is a right wing pseudo think tank that does the usual PR song and dance. They manufacture studies based on obscure methodology and then use a cadre of flacks to find numbskulls and allies in the press to push their junk.

      David Brooks is a big fan of theirs.

    • Women also don’t want to marry libertarians, many so called liberals, or tankies. Men for the most part, present company excluded, do not make good partners.

    • Yep, I’ll start buying into about these stories as soon as they stop with “Heavens, these impossibly high standards!” and start with “Maybe shitty bros could be less shitty?”

      It’s also some extremely messed up galaxy-brain centrist bullshit to file the belief of “women are lesser human beings than men” as a “political difference.” Like, nah, man, that ain’t it.

      • That’s largely the problem. The underlying implication is that they have to “inform” women (who are too stupid to understand what’s good for them) that their “options” (options = marry a MAGA) are disappearing and they need to take drastic steps, like marrying a beer-swilling, abusive, unemployed asshole or they’ll never have a proper “life” (life = marriage and children). It’s incredibly reductive.

        Side note: At no point does WaPo consider that rather than objecting to a MAGA’s politics, women might object to a number of other characteristics (see beer-swilling, abusive, unemployed asshole above). In other words, MAGA politics attract a certain type of scumbag. But to find that out, they might have to talk to a woman, and who would ever do such a thing! 

        And what is the point? Who are they trying to convince?

        23-year-old woman: ZOMG, my grampa read in one of those old-timey “newspaper” things that I have to start dating bubbas if I want a family!

  5. For anyone who has dealt with these folks…

    I have. Twice. TWICE! I guess I should consider myself fortunate that the 2nd time the consultants weren’t led by the nincompoop son of the Nortel CEO (yeah no conflict of interest) and those stupid ideas helped put us into Chapter  7.

    • McKinsey does two things. One is generate a “solution” that consists of grinding up a client into sludge and then extruding them like pasta through one of their nozzles, and they only have three different nozzles.

      The other is come up with the backup rationale for whatever the execs have already decided to do.
