Me either. I’ve met other sociopaths like him that think that if they just talk enough, they can get themselves out of anything. This is exactly the opposite of a sound legal strategy.
I do feel bad for Matthew Perry, though, because employing – if not quite mastering – sarcasm with humor and pain has been something of an MO for me during the better part of my life (as I suspect is the case for at least a couple of other people here as well). I mean, I checked out from Friends before the ’90s were over and didn’t really follow any of his work afterwards, but he basically seemed more or less like a stand-up guy whom I hope at least wasn’t consumed by his many demons at the end. And the fact that former co-stars (and this guy named Justin who used to go to school with him in Ottawa) are wading back into Elmo’s cesspool to post tributes and memories of him almost makes me happy for him – and maybe even want to break out of this isolation and actually try to make an impression on people again.
Could you BE any closer to me chomping on my tongue to not say something sarcastic at inopportune times? 🙂
