    • I was about to say much the same as Tim Onion, then I got to your addendum. It’s very clear that the fascists are scared. Things aren’t going their way and the country isn’t getting onboard with totalitarianism, even though their almost complete control of the media suggests otherwise.

      Problem is, they’re scared, cornered rats and they’re going to start doing increasingly desperate and crazy shit, like Portland and killing Venezuelans, hectoring the generals, and ramping up the ICE bullshit. They’re running out of time and they know it. But that presupposes that we get to hold another election. It’s tough to shut that down but it seems clear that Trump is going to try to instate martial law and use that as an excuse to cancel elections. The other problem is simply choosing to ignore election results, like they’re doing now with Arizona Representative-elect Adelita Grijalva. Nope, we’re not going to seat her, and what are you going to do about it?

      I don’t like being a doomsayer but we’re coming to a point where it’s going to take more than politics to change course.

Trump keeps pressing, but if he were really as large and in charge as the media pretends he is (and what he and his pathetic little shit Kegsbreath imagine they are) then he’d be issuing orders across the board to the various State NGs to “invade” multiple places like Chicago, Los Angelese and NYC at once.

    I suspect that
    1) Miller, Kegsbreath and Trump can’t/don’t plan more than one urban invasion because they don’t have the mental capability to deal with several ops at once
    2) Something bryansplinter (I think) pointed out that he doesn’t have the military resources/boots for it. That that number of “loyal” NG units are few and far between (also more likely the most fucked up/least capable because any unit run by MAGAts will be more than likely organizationally inept as well.)

      …various places have put forward pretty cogent cases for why if you run the logic all the way down the train of thought a military occupation of the united states by an entity laying claim to federal troops with which to do it is a fool’s errand from a brute numbers perspective for just the troops even without dealing with the logistics or the legitimacy of the chain of command…pretty sure their math holds even allowing for the super-funding of ICE as the troopers-that-storm plug-in…certainly a few tilts at that windmill from places like that secdeftherock or the belle of the ranch that’s beau of the fifth’s mrs (afaik?) on one or other of those youtube channels…but one of the ones those link to or reference or whatever is this one

      …not sure they care all that much about that part, though…they…kinda rely pretty heavily on the “force-mulitplier” for the culture war rules of engagement to ensure that they can keep their mythical base in the same addled state they can keep the [figure-]head of state in while they go port-au-prince pirate king on the constitutional order

    • It was me. I was doing math. 1.3 million active military, 400,000 or so National Guard, and 20,000 ICE agents. Even if all of them threw in with Trump (won’t happen), that’s not enough manpower to police 330 million people in the US. They’re going to rely on controlling the media and lying to make it seem like they’re in control.

      • And to my “This ain’t how fascists do it” point above: you can declare war on “illegal” immigrants and you’re talking ~10 million (nonresident/questionable) people. That’s doable and you’ll get moderate pushback. You declare war on all Latin Americans and now we’re talking ~70 million. We’re already into “lol good luck with that.” Want to add Blacks (and oh god do they want to include them) and Muslims, now we’re at 110 million and hahahah riiiight. And then you want to throw all Democrats and anyone who doesn’t kiss Trump’s ass on top? Buddy, we’re talking 170 million people to round up … they don’t have the people, the will, the power or even the basic infrastructure.

        As it is, they’re already more interested in creating content and posturing than they are in really doing the thing they keep saying they’re doing. I do think Stephen Miller wants to; what’s happening is already treasonous and should be dealt with as such — but I also think they have no clue how much people do not like them and Yarvin is correct to be concerned that Democrat fecklessness might not be a get-out-of-jail free card this time around.

          This is one of the curious aspects of narcissism. The narcissist is almost incapable of believing that other people do. not. like. him/her. It’s weird to watch my MIL justify other people’s treatment of her. It’s never, “oh, they don’t like me” it’s always something else, like a misunderstanding or a third party causing problems or whatever.

          Trump is the exact same way. All his posts about being the most beloved president ever are things he truly believes, and he’s not going to believe anyone (big, strong men) who says (with tears in their eyes) “Uh, sir, you’re really, really unpopular.”

            • We don’t like to go out in public with my MIL because it’s a small town and people know her, and to know her is to intensely dislike her. She keeps making my wife take her to the grocery store where she dodders up to the counters and makes her bizarre eating disorder requests (two thin slices of turkey, for example) and you can see that the person behind the counter 1. knows her and 2. dislikes dealing with her (eye rolls, muttering, a scrum behind the counter to see who will have to wait on her). She’ll bray on about how it’s got to be VERY THIN and they’ll say in a monotone, yes, ma’am, I remember you. Or she’ll return things (which she does CONSTANTLY) and you see the same behavior, eye rolls, sighs, and clipped responses.

              And my MIL will turn around and say oh, they always remember me here because they like me so much. Yeah, that’s why they remember you.

      • No, but all you need is one division to mow down a large crowd of people to get the message across that anyone else who resists will get the same treatment. Might not stop everyone, but it’ll slow the pushback way down.

        • I admittedly have a low opinion of Americans but I think that would actually be the opposite outcome: Lots of people are not paying attention or still pretending it can’t happen here and that is an un-ignorable moment for people. Other regimes that have tried that method tend to end real fast, real violently. (This also presumes a level of control that I do not believe they have over the military writ large; a civil war is absolutely NOT the outcome they want.)

          Like this shit is very unpopular now when it’s painless for the average white citizen, and that’s despite the regime having incredibly friendly media AND the average American being functionally illiterate about politics. You show people a Facebook reel of random middle-class white folks getting gunned down by the military and yes, some are gonna be terrified into silence, but lots of others will suddenly realize it could be them in a way they do not currently fathom.
