    …guy sues homeowners for letting their pet bite a man invading their home & they have to pay damages in the five-figure range

    …the stereotype would have it be a no-win-no-fee deal

    …but…if you’d said the guy got arrested but then had the case overturned & put the homeowners in jail for not celebrating the patriotism of their uninvited guest by gifting him their home cinema or some shit…I’d have said that was bullshit that couldn’t possibly be true

  2. This is from WaPo. Has anyone ever analyzed Trump’s very peculiar grasp of the English language?

    • I think what you’re seeing here is once removed from whatever babble emerges from the orange maw. Trump’s got a woman who follows him around regurgitating favorable articles to keep him happy, and I suspect that he “dictates” this crap to her and she actually types them. Note the complete absence of spelling errors, although the wonky capitalization is still present. I suspect The Printer (as the woman is called) isn’t super well versed in grammar, though she apparently understands spellcheck.

      That’s the only explanation I can think of that explains the wide divergence between his toilet tweets and others that are correctly spelled and punctuated.

      I’ve graded hundreds of college essays and this smacks of “I got my girlfriend to write this for me.”

    • Read a social media comment the other day that went something like this: While I don’t condone violence, if a few more CEOs get killed, we’ll see comprehensive gun laws passed nationwide.

      • I think Farscy saw that comment and rightly said there’s nothing that will get this country to make any meaningful changes to our gun laws.  I mean, clearly these shitbags don’t give Fuck One how many children get murdered. Just a small price to pay for Freedumb.

        Would it matter if all six right wing justices, or Trump, or the entire Republican caucus were shot?  No, my friends it would not.  If anything, this shithole country would double down.

        CEOs?  Please.  They’ll just have private security wrapped around them as part of their employment contracts.

        • I disagree with this to a point. The only reason the money stays onboard the right-wing wacko train is because they don’t really care about guns or abortion or transgender issues so long as they get deregulated economics. A couple more CEOs go down to right-wing cheers — and there were plenty of those about this one! — and it might make them look twice at following them down their rabbit holes. Because yeah, they don’t care if Trump gets shot, but they might if the violence targets their side … and as we’ve seen with the Trump shooter already, once you unleash that fury it doesn’t necessarily go where you think it might!

          • To one of your points, I do think we might see some pressure to address the violent rhetoric from the MAGAs. They’ve shifted things toward normalizing killing anyone you don’t like. Like I posted last week, that’s a huge reason a lot more liberals are buying guns.

          • I think there’s a very real future path for US elites that parallels what goes on for elites in a lot of other countries.

            They will all move to places like London which have strict gun laws like some Gulf State heir, and leave the rest of us to deal with the mess they created. Or in the case of Zuckerberg and Gates, create some compounds in isolated areas and wall themselves in.

            Which doesn’t actually contradict your point, it just delays it. There is no way to escape, even in other countries or by hiding on an island. But for a while, at least, they’ll think there is, and they’ll stay complicit for a few more years. These people are really bad at thinking beyond the next financial quarter or two in terms of their personal lives as well as their businesses.

            • And at some point, a lot of extra violence is simply very bad for business, unless you’re a gun maker or in private security! (As is corruption, but that’s a separate concern with a very big “We’ll see!” attached to it.)

              Whether or not the CEOs in question feel personally safe, they’re perfectly aware that crime is bad for business and a specific wave of crime that targets them AND makes people broadly feel less safe is economically bad. They rely on the system smoothing out their violence so that nobody gets upset about it; it doesn’t seem like people are as in the dark about that as they might have thought two weeks ago.

          • Given that we might know who is the UHC shooter now — and that he’s basically a libertarian/right-wing dipshit troll, I feel like my comment has aged kinda beautifully? Like I said: You unleash violence hoping it goes your way … but it doesn’t usually work like that.

        • I actually think they may well institute draconian gun laws but the leave the enforcement completely ad hoc depending on who gets to decide.

          White voters just got a pass, while the tests were written in ways that anyone could be rejected, and of course Blacks were.

          There’s been a bit of chatter among liberal elites (the usual suspects) complaining about dumb Americans and wondering if there aren’t ways to raise the bar for participation. It’s a sign of how dumb that segment of the liberals is. They can’t remember the past and what it means about how present day authoritarians work.

        • I don’t know how this came up but my sister once told me that my nephew/godson had been exposed to school shooter drills his entire life. Columbine started it off. He’ll be 28 in a couple of months. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS FUCKING COUNTRY???

  7. Sort of hilariously lost in the coverage is that removing Jerome is not actually an option Trump (or any president) has. He has no legal right to do it, and short of sending the army in to blockade the Fed building, he can’t? It’s so fucking stupid that they don’t lead with that.
