  1. To paraphrase what a friend wrote: Lies/delusions die harder than people do.

Unless the Morons Against Good America suddenly realize that they’ve been lied to instead of living with their heads up their asses, not much will change except there will probably be fewer of them like everyone in the South/Midwest.

If one looks at the demographic maps of strong Trump/GOPer support, strong Xtian fundamentalism, low support for national single payer, % of populace with chronic diseases such as Diabeetus 2 and Heart disease as well as obesity and low education… you can see they are almost the same bloody map.

    • I’m on the side which thinks it is way too early to know where the election goes. I am not onboard with the idea that GOP voters will back Trump no matter what. They did when his screwups affected other people, but this is very different. The first wave has a long way to go, I suspect he will screw up the recovery phase, badly, and I think that leads to a second wave. And I do not think the economy snaps back.

I do not think this turns out to be a slam dunk for Democrats. Messing with the election is a real possibility, and the establishment seems determined to run an even more lackluster campaign than in 2016. I can easily see them running on a platform of “Democrats: Polling Indicates We’re Only 47% ofthe Problem” or possibly “Democrats: We Don’t Have Solutions, But Here is a Means Tested Loan Guarantee You Can Apply For (If McConnell Doesn’t Block It, Which he Will)”.

And I don’t rule out some wild card, like Trump getting essentially bribed to drop out at the convention and hand things over to Pence. I can believe things get bad enough that he takes a pardon and a billion dollar buyout of the Trump business and takes his chances on Federalist Society judges blocking state legal action based on whatever reasoning they can invent.

  2. Hello, I’ve been playing Animal Crossing and have been furloughed from my job and my entire adult life has been one international nightmare after another, how are you?

-When I heard Boris Johnson got hospitalized I had the same feeling I did when Rush Limbaugh was diagnosed with lung cancer: couldn’t have happened to a nicer person. Do plenty of nice people get sick and don’t deserve it? Yes. But some bad people get sick and very much deserve it and that’s something to be thankful for.

-I’ve been reflecting on how American Evangelicalism/Baptism has come full circle back to Catholicism. You HAVE to go to a church building to publicly flaunt your faith? You NEED to display and participate in the pageantry of the high holidays? Your pastor is the best and ONLY source for interpreting the Word? The church needs your MONEY so that something something heaven? Martin Luther would be rolling in his grave. American church people are so dumb.

63 million people voted for Trump and this is our, and the world’s just desserts.

    • “American Evangelicalism/Baptism has come full circle back to Catholicism.”

Yet even the Catholics are leaving well enough alone, and listening to science!🙃

      • Coming from a family of Catholics, I will take the side of Catholics any day of the week in the face of the hypocrisy of American Protestants. They’re so self-assured that they’re superior and Catholics aren’t “real” Christians that it’s impossible to engage with them (Baptists, et al) in a discussion about how, maybe, their world views aren’t correct or honest.

      • Unfortunately, yes! If you want to play the latest version, that is. Other versions can be played on a DS or on the Nintendo Gamecube. I bought a Switch just so I could play the newest version. The Switch has other games, of course, but I’m not sure how engaged I’m going to be with this somewhat expensive gadget if no other games catch my eye.

          • It is pricey but I do think all of the technology that has gone into the Switch justifies it. I’m not really a “gamer” so I can’t say it’s a worthy “investment” but I wanted to play this game so…

Most objects aren’t worth it in an existential sense so I probably shouldn’t stress too much about it.

  3. I went out into the world today. I had to get a pair of readers, couldn’t take it any more! And I needed some shop towels for face mask filters.

    https://www.businessinsider.com/homemade-mask-using-hydro-knit-shop-towel-filters-better-2020-4

Wanting to limit my shopping to one store I went into the belly of the beast – WalMart. I’d estimate that only around 1/4 of the people were wearing masks. And I made an interesting observation, most of the mask wearers were Black or women wearing hajib. Proving once again the white people are dumb shits! I’m a self acknowledged dumb shit white person and even I know to wear a damn mask.
