Finally getting around to watching the new Mortal Kombat and even though it’s been more than 2 decades since I played the game I was like OMG IT’S SUB ZERO!
Anyways I’m 10 minutes in, so who knows how thin this plot will be. Looking forward to seeing someone’s spine ripped out later!

The Leafs just won and clinched a division title for the first time in 21 years. Now watching the Blue Jays hoping they don’t choke in the 9th inning.
I don’t remember the mortal kombat combos but one thing I definitely remember is that the women fighters’ combos were the most dangerous!

OMG. I remember the “parental concern” panic over video game violence during my childhood. Mortal Kombat was Exhibit A and I’m sure it reads like child’s play nowadays. <Grumbles at kids to get off my lawn.>
Yeah, I also remember that, and the whole “parental advisory explicit content” bit that became a badge of pride on albums. And D&D making kids satanic…
It’s just sad, because I feel like most of the people loosing their shit over WAP and Lil Nas X and what not, are likely in the age range that they were teens/youth when the last round of this bullshit went through the news cycle…

I’ve had quite a week (read: lots of stress, but I’m ok), but I just had a really very nice day with my parents and inlaws over for a visit, for a sort of mother’s day thing. Everyone is now fully vaxxed but me and Lil (my second shot is Friday), so we even went maskless. First time we’ve hung out maskless in many many months, and it was so nice. We hung out indoors, ate food, Lil took everyone on tours of the house (they’ve been here before, but it was super cute)… It really felt normal and good. Good day.

…I kind of missed this…like the one about upcoming things to watch that were worth looking forward to…& I’m questioning my judgement since all my efforts to improve my odds of getting some sleep don’t seem to have actually got me much
…might have to check out the latest iteration of mortal kombat…but if you want a movie that’s pretty nearly based on the same formula (minus the catchphrases) but has some decent fights & the bonus of roger moore as a modern day pirate of sorts…there’s a van damme movie called “the quest” from a while back that I quite enjoyed
…I, on the other hand, found myself watching something called “happy” on netflix…in which christopher meloni gives a suitably unhinged performance as an ex-cop-turned-hitman trying to track down a kidnapped girl at the behest of her imaginary friend (the eponymous happy, voiced by patton oswalt)…which may have been a questionable choice but reminded me that I think I’m looking forward to seeing bob odenkirk in “nobody”

I bailed on the NYY/Nats game in the 7th only to find out they won in the 11th and that was my not only questionable move of the day. I watched Greenland [kudos to HBO on timing!] with Gerard Butler. It was fine actually but every so often the Scottish accent came out and you’re laughing while people are running from cosmic debris.

Speaking of questionable moves, on Escape to the Chateau they buy a vintage bus with lovely interior woodwork that she proceeds to paint toothpaste green. It pained me.
