Ever have a day that was supposed to be quiet or fun or whatever you expected it to be and instead have it go South?
Welcome to the universe of Murphy’s Law which at its most basic for those who don’t know is “anything that can go wrong, will go wrong.”
Some academics and theorists believe that Murphy’s Law is bullshit because mathematics says that more catastrophic things should happen over time.
It’s also been said by consultants pushing bullshit management systems, Lean or other trademarked process improvement systems.
Tell that to Yankees fans who witnessed the 04 ALCS, the Challenger Seven, the crew of Apollo 1, the reactor control team of Chernobyl, English Footie fans at the World Cup, or the wails of Maple Leafs fans since 1967.
Totally NOT INSPIRED by work where I was told it was going to be a quiet day, but was not.

day?
shit i think im hitting months now…one thing after another
and thats just my personal shit….workwise im probably in the years now
and thats at least part of why i drink too much
Can’t blame you. Murphy has been a nearly constant presence in my work and life.
There’s a direct relationship to “are these fuckers competent or not?” with which team is doing the code for my projects and whether or not I believe in Murphy’s Law.
This week, one developer said to another team “hey it would be nice if you followed any sort of best practices maybe for your work? can you try that?” LOL
Probably more true than one realizes.
No one can accuse senior management here to be world class except as dipshits.
