Nonlinear Time [NOT 12/3/24]

Hi, friends!

I hope your day is going well.

Today I had a block of meetings that covered from before lunch until about 2:30 and I swear time slows down when there’s a combo of meetings and anything delaying eating.

It draaaaags.

Also in the saga of the landlord special happening across the street with the rental house, I heard the owner say “it’s amazing what a coat of paint can do!” and I’m just imagining solid white paint on every wall and over light switches and outlets too.

  1. today went pretty quick for me…….may have even landed a new job in the same company…. tho time will tell

but my two road blocks are currently hospitalized…one for a stroke…and the other thrombosis

i wish them the best of recoveries…… slowly

so this seemed like a prime time to make my move

if it works im going to be in for some firewo0rks when they get back

tole em id do it for nearly 5 years tho….so fuck em
i mean thats a long ass time to train my replacement….if they’d bothered

  2. I have external Zooms all week. With up to 16 people in attendance. Ha! Wanna bet that they all run overtime? Also, I will be wearing real clothes and makeup and taming my hair (whine) because I still bow to the patriarchy of professional attire for women when in “public”. No Zooms for a day? Yoga pants and comfy oversized shirts with zero makeup and a ponytail or bun. Also, meeting times are always flummoxed by multiple time zones. Alaska to New York are fine, but add in Spain and Australia and it gets very tricky.

  3. OT but I’m sitting outside cooling off after the exercise bike and there are owls getting worked up in the distance. I assume it’s mating time.

There’s also weird crinkling in the leaves under all of the bushes. I thought it was too cold for bugs to be emerging. There is so much rustling  in so many places I doubt it’s mice. Maybe it’s snakes!

  4. The last two hours of most shifts feels like they are going backwards.

The worst is days. Because self important motherfuckers, er, management scurry about trying to catch people doing things. It used to be the “fav” shift for most folks but in the last four years has become the hell shift.

  5. 😭 insomnia. I only slept 2hrs before I was woken by Hz.1 at midnight. I’ve been wide awake ever since (3hrs and counting). I’m not looking forward to today. My husband has to go into the office followed by a work dinner. Usually he works from home and watches Hz.3 while I drop off and pick up the other two. They have different start and finish times (full vs half day). Typically, one of us cooks supper while the other manages Hz.1-2-3’s squabbles and meltdowns. Their bath and bedtime routine also demands a divide and conquer approach. I predict that it’s going to be lots of cries from Hz.3 who hates being in the car, boxed mac & cheese for supper, and probably skip bath time.
