So earlier in the week we were talking about Monty Python and the Holy Grail. And that got me to thinking. Back when I was a callow youth, we had this thing called a “dollar movie theater.” It was called that because you could go see movies on Tuesday night for, you guessed it, a dollar. Some were actually first run movies, but others were older.
So my high school friends would get together and we’d all troop over to Daytona Beach and see whatever dollar movie was available.
Back to my point, one was often Monty Python and the Holy Grail. I suspect I saw it at least 10 times, maybe more. And laughed myself sick every time.
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
So tell me, fellow Deadsplinters. What movie scene makes you laugh every single time? I’m not talking about whatever IMDB or Rotten Eggs says is the funniest movie of all time. What makes you laugh?
Now, I am going to point out that I am attending the theater this evening and will not be available to comment upon your choices until my return. So:
1. Do try to embed your recommendations.
2. Do not break the Internet while I’m gone. If I come back and find the Internet broken, I shall be very cross.
I said this morning that Bad Words is one of the funniest films I’ve ever seen. This scene knocks me flat every time.
“Elephant’s trunk” is a euphemism I had never heard.
Raising Arizona is one of my favorites of all time. My history of film teacher did a whole quarter on it. I missed that quarter but we did a quarter dissecting the Big Lebowski. In high school we would watch this movie almost every weekend & could recite most of the lines.
One of mine is this;
My bestie & i somehow ended up watching this one almost every time we got together from 1993-97-or so…. I don’t know if it was just on reruns that much on MTV/VH1/one of the other former-music TV channels, or what…. but it was on nearly every weekend…
So we watched it, and it’s still something I can quote most of😉😁
This movie is the other one that has multiple scenes that still make me laugh;
