Nothing Can Go Wrong With This Plan! [NOT 6/7/21]

Hi, friends! This is gonna be a great week at work.

Maybe I’ll have a migraine tomorrow. You never know!

Every time we have a 4 day work week, I get so annoyed because we just as much work done as a 5 day week. Like what’s the effing point of a 5 day office work week????

  1. Four day weeks always seem longer to me than five day weeks.

We do not test in Production, but we do test in Proof of Concept, Test, Multi-Purpose Environment, and sometimes–if it’s a really screwy build–Support.

  2. I’ve been guilty of the following:
    1) Falling in love with the plan (hey, I did it and I think I’m fucking brilliant so…)
    2) Not being flexible when things change.
    3) Wrong assumptions when planning
    4) Related to 2) not planning for contigencies
    5) Not allowing for setup and lead time.
    6) Keep doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result.

    • @Lymond, best thing ever. Our dogs are all type two. Three of the four do not even want to get off the steps to go out when it rains. I guessing that your awesome gang are all pro water.

      • @Elliecoo – All of our dogs will run inside if I break out the water hose but have no problem going out in the rain – sometimes even torrential downpours. So, I guess like Butcher Dog – they are type 1 1/2.
My aunt has a golden retriever that will swim out to us if we are out in the water at the lake. We added pool noodles to a spring float to make him a special raft. He will float around on that think for hours.

        • We spent last several days with 2 chocolate labs & 3 golden retrievers on a private bay.  I swear I never saw them dry.  The owners thought they might just change teams & join the harbor seals.

      • My corgi loved to swim. Fanny will splash about in a creek or puddle but is terrified of the ocean and bathtubs, completely ignores the kiddy pool I set up for her.

    • My last doggo would play with the hose and try to bite and chomp the water coming out of the hose, but nope fuck going outside in the rain. You’d think I was torturing him trying to bathe him, too.

      • Yours sounds a LOT like Lily!
She’s like that dark lab at the very end of group 1 (except MORE jumping, sneezing, & chomping!)
        Tooootally shark-biting & “CHOMPCHOMPCHOMP-ing”at any hose water, whenever it’s on😉😆🤣💖
        But bathtime?
        absolute torture!🤣
And she looks at you like you just killed her favorite toy.

  3. Goddamnit, someone moved the guide on the saw.
I’ve been the only person to use that saw for months, and there is no reason to move the guide.
So, that’s what I’m going to be doing this week, trying to get this non-precision guide precisely adjusted and bolted down.

And, I’m going to be trying to figure out if I can make an easier-to-adjust guide with nothing but a cordless drill and handtools, because I need special safety training to use the drill press…

  4. *steals lead pic to plaster all over the office windows*
anyways… guess whos currently pulling overtime coz the office decided to launch a new product and delayed the test run for troubleshooting by so many weeks they actually just tacked it on to the first stack of customer orders..
ill give you a hint… its the same guy currently dealing with ill fitting parts and body panels…..even the fucking checklist for final QC isnt right…coz huh…waddaya mean the new machine has different parts to check than the old one? its got the same name as the old one doesnt it?
anyways..today probably wont be the day i murder everyone in the office….. but im fucking getting there

    • incidentally the new machine was supposed to be just a facelifted version of the old one with a touchscreen….i remember the propaganda meeting
mostly using the same parts as before just with nicer looks they said
i think it now shares about 3 parts with the old machine…the other 80some are new

        • Do not even get me started. Does anyone else seem to have a personal force field that seems to prevent touch screen devices from responding? Cuz dang, that makes everything so fun and interesting.

          • I use my knuckles like a chimp most of the time.
My hands are often scratched and torn up from working with stones and such, and dried out from frequent washing and degreasers and such.  Plus some callouses… My finger tips don’t work too well with a lot of touch screens…

  5. Because I take a chunk of vacation time in Friday increments, I’m working a 3-day week. Bonus, I miss 2 department meetings and my boss is on vaca. Hoping to get some cleaning done inside so that this weekend I can do some outside work. Anyone know how to get rid of virginia creeper?

  6. I enjoy a holiday or PTO related 4-day work week. But with all the labor-shortage, anti-Amazon talk (and related) online there are a lot of people who seem to be in favor of a 4 day work week all the time. I do not at all want to work ten hour days. I already start at 6am, I don’t want to get home at 4:30, never have time to do anything after work except eat dinner, watch a show, and go right to bed. Heck. With. That.
