Oh Yeah! [DOT 7/10/22]

"I've only had half of four bottles of wine."

Welcome to the weekend gang! Only a few more hours of work and then you are home free.

I got my bivalent booster Wednesday evening and it made me feel like I worked out for hours. The muscle soreness was no joke this time around.

Any big plans this weekend? I’ve got a neighborhood fire pit hangout tonight, but other than that not much going on.

What the heck:

  1. In more Stonks! news, someone has finally created an ETF that does exactly the opposite of what Jim Cramer recommends. So for younger readers, what you can do right now to possibly ensure a plush early retirement is:

    1. Invest in this ETF (I won’t; I am at the age where I’m transitioing into age-based, broad-based mutual funds) and

    2. Follow as closely as you can what moves Paul “Mr. Nancy” Pelosi is making while his wife still wields the gavel in the House. Or even beyond—as long as she has a seat she and her colleagues get first dibs on info about upcoming legislation (or the squashing of same) that can make or break companies in lots of different fields, like social media and green energy. Unfortunately this is notionally a lagging indicator, so by the time the trades are publicly announced they’re for the past quarter and in ludicrously large ranges, but your broker will have real-time info. Everyone on Wall Street is watching him and they talk, professional courtesy, just like in the House of Representatives.

    • With Facebook stock tanking, I’m sure this is a good time to invest in  MySpace.

  2. Sounds horrible.

  3. Biden’s pardon won’t affect that many people–maybe 10,000 at most–because the vast majority of possession convictions are at the state level.  But, his direction to the agencies to reconsider how pot is classified will certainly have a bigger impact.

    • Yep. Plus it gives Republicans another thing to clutch their pearls and faint over, which is good. Put them on the back foot again arguing against popular policies. And while the pundit class brands it as a move designed to appeal to youth, most of the regular pot users I know are over 40. At least Uncle Joe is making moves, instead of sitting and waiting for the next Republican attack. Democrats have finally stopped playing defense.

    • …the little thread on twitter I saw did include a suggestion that states take similar action, even if he can’t make them follow through…& at least on candidate in a mid-term race made a point of re-tweeting that with a suggestion they would do so if elected

      …which seemed encouraging?

  4. I’m cooking the Thankstaking dinner for the 5th straight year.
