  1. I did my last Costco run before Xmas.  Thought it would be insane but wasn’t too bad.  Glad I didn’t wait until Thursday or Friday.  Holiday blues are hitting me hard.

      • No, my wife is here but working a bunch & very distracted w/ all the chaos/drama of settling her dad’s estate.  I’m between meaningful jobs right now.  Daughters are sending pics of fun they are having on trip & it reminds me they don’t need me any more.  We got a hotel in Seattle this weekend & going to do nice dinner & Seattle Xmas scene which will hopefully snap me out of it.

        • Shaq, you’re their Dad, and a GOOD dad–i PROMISE you, that they NEED you in their lives!

They just might not need you to fix stuff for them on a *daily* basis, like they did when they were tiny tikes😉💖

You done good, REALLY, REALLY GOODA, because you & Mrs. Shaq have raised good responsible, kind & caring women, who are ABLE to travel the world safely & who still keep in touch with you, to share what they’re experiencing😁💗

It’s the GOOD parents, whose kids feel safe enough to explore & share it with their parents💕💞💓💗💖💝

          You’ve done GOOD!💫💫💫💫💫

          • Thanks Emmer, I needed that.  Appreciate the kind words.

          • By coincidence, I have a Happy Hour for Friday queued up with the Gluhwein and Kinderpuncsh that’s in that video.

  2. I’m liking having Xmas on Monday next week. This week sort of petering out seems ideal somehow, and I’d rather have the whole week to wrap up and have a full weekend before it.

When it’s mid to late week, people are too tempted to try to jam something on the schedule just a couple of days before.

  3. Also if you want a helluva crazy read –

    https://www.riverfronttimes.com/news/attorney-videos-taken-at-bar-pm-contradict-st-louis-police-story-41477984

    tl;dr

around 1am a StL City police SUV swerved and ran into a wall belonging to a gay bar (initially saying they swerved to not hit a stray dog)

    the owners came outside

cops were dicks and demanded the owners’ identification

cops were dicks and put one of the owners in handcuffs

other owner was upset and asked why they were cuffing his husband

cops said other owner assaulted one of them and arrested him, charging with a felony, and taking him to jail

    RECEIPTS TIME

video footage of the street shows no dog to swerve to miss hitting

bystander footage shows was no assault (also of great surprise to no one as this story smelled like bullshit the entire time)

  4. Dad finally got into the seniors home with mom yesterday. For once mom was happy to see dad. They are in the same ward.

Mom’s mental age is now 32. She pretty much has lost 5 decades of memories in 4 months. This is not a good sign. She gets confused because she thinks I am 5 not 53.

The doc has put her on more powerful drugs which put mom in a better place. She was happy to see me when I visited on Friday.

    • That’s great news plus time travel!  You can only do so much, especially at your new young age.  Glad they are both in a safe place & hopefully less stress on you.

    • Dementia is WILD, isn’t it, Manchu?💖

Welcome to the Jeremy Bearimy Timeline, and I’m sorry you’ve arrived, too.💝

Ngl, it is sort of fitting, that today was Tuesday, since the Dot over the I *is* Tuesdays, July, and *sometimes* it’s also the time when nothing Never happens.

If you CAN, and she’s in good moods when you or your sisters visit her, this IS an excellent opportunity to ask questions about her life, and thoughts!💖💞💓💗💕

Dementia is AWFUL, but the fact that for those short stretches in there, folks *can* sometimes *instantly* tap back into their old memories–like the things JUST happened Yesterday, CAN be an amazing opportunity to learn about them, when they were younger–and when *we* were so much too young, to ask them the things we’d LOVE to know about their thoughts & feelings “back in those days”💓💗💓

      • Okay, now I get it. Mom’s been looping around. Her time does not make sense to me.

    • Good luck with the process. I think it’s often hard for parents to express, especially at this point, but they do appreciate being able to see their kids stepping up. They know deep down how far you’ve come since way back when.

      • It was one of the moments that choked me up when mom had a rare aware moment and said she was proud of me for helping both her and dad. It hit the right spot.

Unfortunately this is why it is tough for me to process the guilt (for lack of a better word) I feel for taking away everything she was and out of the home she loved even though it is for her own good.

I know that she and dad couldn’t go on like this, but it still stings. The counselor I spoke with today mentioned that it is natural to feel this way and it isn’t something one can just quickly adapt to. It’s irrational, but that’s emotions for you (even coming to grips with them is something I getting more used to being raised to be stoic and in control of your feelings-toxic masculinity? Probably.) Very messy and very human.

  5. I just found out today that I’m getting Christmas Day off work. (Still on the waiting list for the rest of the week, but at least my position’s in the double digits.)

    • I thought the one day of the year legal work took off was Christmas. I guess not.

      • Oh, the courts‘ll be closed, sure. But I’m talking about my main, work-from-home job interpreting by video for hospitals and clinics all over the damn country.

        • Got it. There’s always a need, and it’s good there are people who can make sure what needs to happen will happen

  6. Speaking of time going slowly, tonight I’ve entered the zone of tamale making, both Costa Rican and Mexican. Hopefully I’ll be done tonight by midnight, but I ran out of corn husks so I’ll have to finish up the Mexican at a later date.

  7. In lighter news, today, the State of Minnesota probably has a new Flag, and a new state seal!

Sadly, no laser loon ON the flag…

But, at LEAST, there now *is* a Laser Loon in the Flag’s Cannon!😉😆😂🤣🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

    The new historical Cannon, of how the flag came to be;

The symbolism of the new MN state flag is deeply cultural.
