Hooooowwww is it only Wednesday? This week is dragging.
Is anyone’s week moving along briskly?
In good news, I identified a few major security/compliance risks on a big project so at least my new boss sees me doing work and being useful.
Bad news is I now need to spearhead getting those addressed… which yikes. Scary because I’ve never managed that sort of project before, but also EXCITING because I’ve never managed that sort of project before.
How’s your day going? Anything interesting happen today at work?
Happy to hear that the new job is already coming along well.
We had a brief power outage today so I took the morning off. That allowed me to watch the otters catch fish and have breakfast while lounging on the ice. I love watching those critters.
That’s awesome! I am glad you had entertainment. Also glad the power came back on quickly!
I think we need to hijack a delivery drone and send it to you so you can start airdropping them fish and get some action photos you can post.
Took my cat to the ophthalmologist today (I got lucky with a cancelation slot). Although the doctor did say it looks like melanoma and we should remove her eye, she also said I came in at the exact right time. It looks early stage and is unlikely to have spread. She said if I had come in six months ago, she probably wouldn’t have been sure if it was melanoma yet, so I can stop beating myself up about that.
She also gave me a quote of 3600 for the surgery 😬 but told me I should get it done elsewhere. She said surgery with a specialist for this would be overkill, as normal vets can do it just as well and won’t charge nearly as much. So tomorrow I’ll call my normal vet to find out what they’d charge, but also I’ll probably check with a nearby vet who takes PetAssure. I feel kinda weird going to a new unknown vet for surgery, but if it saves me 750 off a 3k surgery… I’ll just make sure they’ve done the surgery before.
I’m glad it’s been diagnosed at a time where it very likely hasn’t spread!
I’m glad to hear you caught it in time. She’ll be just fine with one eye. Please keep us updated on her progress.
Thank you for the update on kitty kat! Animals are the best people.
I’m very glad that kitty will be alright! My dad has a one-eyed kitty, and he’s just as awesome as he was when he had 2 eyes 🙂
At midnight, we begin a month long stay-at-home order with the exception of essential needs and work. I am not quite sure why the nothing I do at work is essential but I am glad it is.
I have to go in early tomorrow otherwise no one will be able to get in where I can make sure nothing gets done because if nothing is getting done, we’re not doing nothing (which is essential).
I hope that the order is effective for your area/virus control.
That lede image accurately describes the past 5 years.
I did feel like the week was creeping along. But now tomorrow is already Thursday and I don’t know how that happened!
I talked to an old friend today. We used to be neighbors years ago, both moved to different parts of the country but stayed in touch, visited a few times, and talked regularly. But over the last couple of years we just stopped for some reason. I heard a family member of hers was ill, texted and today she called. It was like we had just spoken yesterday, there was nothing awkward about it at all. It was good to catch up and we promised each other not to go so long without speaking again. It was a good day.
That’s such a great feeling, reconnecting with someone and it’s not awkward. I need to reach out to people more.
I’ve had other old friends get in touch over the years but the conversations felt forced. This was so natural. I’m glad we made contact.
@brightersideoflife, you’ve got this, well done. My week is oddly expanded and compressed at the same time. I’m putting in 12 hour days, but am barely staying on top of the incoming, let alone time sensitive projects. Ah well, this too shall pass.
Today has been extremely long, probably because I literally can’t do anything useful. I got a cortisone injection in my knee this morning, which was vastly unpleasant, but will, hopefully, make walking less miserable after a few days. But, for the first 24 hours, I was told to stay off my feet entirely. It’s one thing to be lazy because you want to be, but somehow, it’s entirely different when you HAVE to. In other words, I’m bored!
@HoneySmacks Hope the family is taking care of you tonight, and that you’re up and about tomorrow.
They’re all taking good care of me 🙂 Husband took today off so he could drive me and just be here, and Other-Husband is off tomorrow. BabySmacks hung out in here with me for a couple of hours, we watched a few movies and he made me lunch. KidSmacks3 said to just text him if I need anything and he’ll come right down 🙂 I’ve got a good bunch here!
Cortisone shots are no fun. I used to get them in my shoulder, guided by ultrasound, and I think being able to see the image made it hurt even more.
*Ahem*
If you go back into my comments, I believe you’ll find that I predicted a second impeachment shortly after the first one.
Anywho………………..You know who should be the new host of Jeopardy? AOC. Then we can listen to right-wing nuts complain unironically that a game show host is a Congresswoman.

Only 159 hours to go. By the way, this is the countdown clock I refresh with alarming regularity:

nothing interdasting at my work at mo….had to train up my Qspiracy inclined co worker to be able to take over for me on final check and packaging
he helped out for 2 hours yesterday and was already grumbling about pre existing back issues and shit by the end of that shift
have a feeling he’s not going to be a whole lot of help for very long
on the upside tho…it rained all day yesterday and then things cleared up overnight and immediately froze…. my ride to work is going to be hilarious
