Hi, friends!
I had a total squirrel moment and forgot to make the NOT.
Indeed, I was distracted by the farmers market.
Anyways, what’s up? How are things?

How was the farmers market?
This past Saturday I scored some cheap kohlrabi, which I always forget what they’re good for. When I got home I found a recipe for slaw, and I just peeled and shredded them and added bottled Italian dressing. Worked great.
Garlic scapes!!!
That’s how good it was.
Garlic pasta with ground pork and veggies is in my future.
We are down to the last 3 steps on my concrete stair project! Although, we have already gone through the 52 bags of cement & the way things are going will need another 18 to finish the project. My back & knees hurt & my work partner went into A-fib on Saturday while I was moving my daughter, he decided to do the landing pour (probably 16+ bags by himself). He won’t quit but he has at least slowed down and is letting me carry all the bags now. He is meeting w/ his cardiologist right now. We have until Wednesday to return the forms so the project is in pretty good shape even if we aren’t.
Holy crap, I hope he gets a good treatment for it. I understand afib is a pretty manageable condition but heart stuff is scary.
Time to insist he takes a break and buy him some serious thank you present for all he’s done.
He just texted me this…
I’m scheduled for a Cardioversion where they knock you out and then shock your heartbeat to reset it
I hope it works.
80 pound bags? That’s a crazy amount of weight.
60 lb bags, the 80’s are too tough to pour in buckets & harder to pour once they are mixed with all the water weight! He is going to be well compensated & he already has me doing a floor & siding on another project for him.
My back hurts to think of that. The water adds so much mass no matter what, and then there is all of the mixing and pouring.
Sorry, but this broke my heart tonight.
My M-i-L used to do something similar to this. She was very active in her church, which had a very small congregation (two or three dozen, maybe) but a very popular food pantry. She would drive around her territory and shake down all the food purveyors for everything that was still edible but that they were getting rid of. She’d make the employees load up her car. Then, she would drive around until she found a couple of teenagers hanging out, pull over, and command them to get into her car. Off they’d go (you did not say no to this woman), back to the church/food pantry, and the teens would do the unloading and the shelving, because the average age of the parishioners was about 75.
That woman was a saint. I miss her every day.
Saints walk among us.
