    • I never really thought of Kava going w/ rightwingers?  Before Kava was a thing, I went to Tonga and did the Kava ceremony with the locals there.  You sit around on the ground of a hut, they crush Kava root in a wood bowl, mix it with water and strain it thru coconut husk.  They pass the bowl around for everyone to take a sip.  The people I traveled with of course chose me to be the one to have to do it.  It tasted like mud at first and then your mouth goes numb and you get a nice gentle buzz.  They told me it would give me weird dreams, I’m in Tonga, I was going to have weird dreams no matter what.  Never did anything Kava again & definitely won’t be doing it in the East Village unless it is the East Village in Tonga.

      • I could easily see this getting the attention of Goop types, and half of them are Trumpies. There isn’t a lot keeping a big chunk of NY Times Style Section readers from cracking and turning into storm the Capitol types, as long as they can find a nice $10K Airbnb for the week. Bunch of Bari Weisses.

  1. I disagree on JLo/ Arod, I thought they looked really cute together. People love to dump on Arod because he’s a real human who does human things instead of a cardboard cutout of a man [coughderekjeteryouphony]. This news makes me sad but in modern relationship terms it is a pretty good run. I don’t think we can dump all the blame at his door, JLo doesn’t have a great relationship track record either. When I look at the long term relationships around me I see 1 thing in common, it will cost too much money to split, take that away from 2 people who are drowning in cash and where’s the incentive? We all know romantic love is brief and monogamy is unnatural. So, it was fun while it lasted, like a romcom.

“Awful person threatens awful person” just sorta seems appropriate and somewhat inevitable to me. Shitty behavior comes with the Alex Jones package, and if you’re using his “fame” to promote your pro-Trump rally, my sympathy for his behavior toward you is … muted. And obviously “pro-Trump” is an absolute endorsement of shitty behavior.

On the other hand, Jones shouldn’t be threatening women, so that’s … wronger? I’m caught in a whirlpool of “ick.”

    • Miles Taylor wrote that “Anonymous” piece in the NY Times where the Times gave him anonymity, called him a top Trump Administration official, and then let him plead that Reoublicans were actually secretly working to hold Trump back but really liked most of what he did and pretty please don’t blame them for Trump’s occasional tackiness.

He’s a propagandist who isn’t even in a place where he has a good grip on what the GOP thinks. This is just more propaganda trying to excuse, as you point out, people who could have stood up to him from the start, including Miles Taylor.
