Final ‘FU’ to Voters on Way Out Door

Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin made quite the exit, pardoning convicted rapists and murderers on his way out the door, in a final ‘fuck you’ to voters. (No word from Senator McConnell on his fellow Republican’s behaviour, nor the adverse effect having 428 newly released criminals will have on their communities. Natch.)

Included in this upstanding batch of humanity is convicted child rapist Micah Schoettle, who raped a 9 year-old; a man who killed his parents; and, quelle surprise, the convicted-murderer brother of a Bevin donor.

Apparently, the incoming state attorney general may be called upon to open an investigation into Bevin’s copious pig person pardoning, because 428 is a big number, and human people are talking about it. Hopefully the correct conversations are being had.

  12. Here in Louisiana there have been significant gains in decreasing our absurd prison population, and one of the Republican criticisms of our current Democratic governor is that he is letting criminals walk the streets.

    • I remember that! I was like ‘whut?’ So he supports after-school childcare programs, and children’s healthcare & nutrition programs, and he did the Medicaid expansion, right? And fair pay and good working conditions for women? Because what does he think happens to them on any other day when they’re too sick to be at school or daycare [same rules], when a sick kid equals the agonising choice of not being able to pay the bills or leaving a sick child to fend for themselves?
