Hi, friends!
How do you like to stay chill? Does being social relax you, or do you need to recharge your batteries after an event?
Hobbies? Reading? I find that cooking usually relaxes me. It’s a real time situation of seeing a task, completing a task, and reaping the benefits.
Reading mostly. Started writing more as I have more things to add to the 3 novels I’ve been working on and off for about 10 years.
I’ve started the clean up on the parents place. Felt good to start getting rid of stuff. Got into a little argument with one sister because I was grumbling about the 3/4 of a meter stack of plastic take out food dishes mom had kept.
She was saying mom needed it to give me leftovers. I agree, but 3/4 of a meter high stack or about 80 or so is too much. I look at it this way: Mom’s good habits became really bad ones as her dementia got worse.
Walking or running until recently. Since my pinched nerve issue, it’s music with headphones on, or gaming.
Definitely recharge. I’ve probably mentioned this before, but I had to have a psychiatric exam before I could start working for a bank. It was a pretty fascinating experience, but my big takeaway was that I am a socialized introvert. I’ve learned to behave like an extrovert when I have to. However, unlike a true extrovert, I find socializing pretty draining. So when an event is over, I have to retreat to solitude to recharge.
He specifically mentioned event management, and I did a lot of tradeshows. He said, oh, you can work the show floor and schmooze with potential customers and all that, but when it’s over, what do you do? Go out with your co-workers or head for your room? It was almost always head for my room.
I’ve been trying to read more fiction and less news or non-fiction, but by the time I get around to it, I’m usually trying not to think about how soon I have to be up in the morning.
I know I’m a broken record about this, but I stay chill with tai chi and the zhan zhuang standing meditation. It’s the only thing that works for me.
eh..i drink too much and make snarky comments on the interwebs
is it healthy..no..not really..and it makes keeping my waist line in check a real struggle
but it works for me
i think anyways
i mean…its possible im in a padded room really and imagening all this shit
