Big weekend here at Chez Clever!

My wife and I had our first date on her birthday, and we liked the concept so much we also got married on the same date, and thus, tomorrow is the fabled “birthaversary” where we cram multiple days of celebration into one orgiastic festival of … oh, what’s that? Our babysitters are unavailable? So we’re doing nothing.

That’s not entirely true, I guess — we are going out to dinner with our son, who has become quite fun at restaurants and can be taken to nice places now without having to worry about it. And I have a fun gift for her (concert tickets to her favorite band later this year) and I have a nice brunch planned for her. It’ll be fun!

But I do miss the days of going hog wild on birthdays and being able to just jet off somewhere to do something just for funsies. I used to take the week off with her; that has fallen by the wayside the past two years. Gotta bring that back!

  2. Congrats! We are celebrating my daughter getting her master’s tomorrow. Today we went to a big yard art plant sale & then I got word the beer I brewed hit stores on this side of the state so had to go get some. My local beer place didn’t buy enough cans so I got the last couple 4 packs. All my beer club guys found out it was here & cleaned them out. The brewery is supposed to get me a bunch next week but wanted some for the party.

  3. My girlfriend and I are seeing a local soul band with some friends. I’d not heard them before and told my SIL that I hoped it was Stevie Wonder soul and not Whitney Houston soul.
    Well… the first song was fucking How Will I Know.
