Saturday Morning Brain Drain [04/10/25]

68/100 at this rate I won't make it to 100 by NYE

I read The Change by Kirsten Miller. Menopause brings out witchy powers to balance the scales of patriarchal injustice. Three women team up to solve a serial murder mystery of teen girls and knock down a couple of men along the way. The book was greatly satisfying in many little ways that women will appreciate. The overarching mystery was a bit too obvious. I still highly recommend it. I’m curious if men will read it and what they think of it.

I’ve had a shit month. Nothing else to report.

Have you started consuming spookie/horror media? Tell us all about it. Usually it’s my favorite time of year but I’m beat and sad and still sick (probably fucking COVID even tho I test negative, it’s been three weeks of this bullshit). Heading to Montreal next week to hug my grandfather and rest of the family and cry some more. Can’t smell or taste anything so that tapers my usual gluttonous run on the town. Gah sorry for all the complaints I’m so done.

  1. Maybe not the place for it, but I’ve been looking for some part time income. I applied for some AI work, mostly mapping stuff. However, this one place I saw them using copyrighted material and my job was to make help turn it into AI usable clips.

As much as I’d like to make 25 Canadian for 5-10 hours of work a week, I’m not going to help steal someone else’s work.

  2. nothing new on my end…still working through my backlog of games…but i did learn this morning that theres actually going to be a new katamari game…not a re roll or whatever..an actual new one

soooo obviously i pre ordered that no questions asked….the missus has been singing katamari songs on and off ever since i told her…so far as im concerned its already $40 well spent

  3. …what @elliecoo said

…but as for the brain drain-ing…that rivers of london installment was long on the youngest magician & her fox “op’s”…but…probably couldn’t have lasted long enough to make me happy…so it’s not its fault it was over before I wanted

…at some point I expect I’ll remember what let me watch the first lot of peacemaker & I’ll catch up with that but I got to the end of the st:snw run &…I guess I may have “thoughts” about better ways they could have gone with that but I didn’t reach discovery levels of does-it-have-to-be-so-much-about-this-one-character…but…it got closer than I thought that branch of that tree would & that could stand to have sucked less?

…otherwise nothing springs to mind other than a ’23 remake of a ’14 movie that (the ’14 one) was called a hard day, called hard days (the ’23 one)…sort of black-comedy-adjacent riff on the “it can always get worse” principle…which…wasn’t bad…but wasn’t exactly “fun”?
