WATCHED
The Umbrella Academy. I know I’m late to this, which is very typical for me. I tend to watch this stuff well after the hype is over. Anyway, I’m one episode away from finishing season 1, and I am really on the fence about watching the next series. I find that most of the characters seem eccentric just for the excuse of being eccentric.
READ
Book-wise? Nothing. Really weird, but I just go through these stretches where picking up a book is not going to happen. Right now my reading is limited to online folks whom I follow.

LISTENED
Filter – Title of Record. This album is 25 years old, and I just this year listened to it all the way through. The single everyone knows is “Take a Picture”, and the rest of the album is very different, in my opinion. Don’t know why it took so long, but it eventually popped up on YouTube when I wanted something “new”, and it grabbed me immediately. Given my DUAN postings, I’m obviously a fan of music from this era.
What’s the rest of the gang up to?
I saw Werewolves Within, which is a comedy/horror movie.
Sam Robertson is the lead and basically carries the movie. He’s the least likely forest ranger ever, and ends up stuck in a small town in a blizzard which may be under attack by a werewolf. OR IS IT? Really dumb but kind of funny just to watch him.
Watched on my personal Apple TV archives, The Blue Max, a 1966 aerial war movie starring Hannibal Smith played by George Peppard as a man who loves it when a plane holds together.
Definitely not a Top Gun. A grim WW1 movie, when aren’t they grim…even Black Adder Final Season set in WW1 was very dark especially compared to the other seasons.
More about class warfare in the greater war (those damn Prussian Junkers/Vons vs the peasants) than dogfights with Migs, er, Sopwith Camels and playing beach volleyball.
On a personal level I understand Hannibal’s character having encountered the same high born resentment from similar establishment assholes wherever I worked.
Um…what’s happening?
What I just read: Elizabeth Roosevelt’s obituary. She lived to be 93 and it’s all there, the Chapin education, never married, Oyster Bay residence, award-winning sailor, artist…she is the last of her line and they certainly don’t make them like her anymore. She is described as “gruff.”
