whilst it was an interesting read…im not sure the gubment shutdown link is the one you meant to post
anyways…from what ive been hearing it does look like the maga crowd is going to actually cause a shutdown….i’d imagine thats going to hurt the gop as they really cant blame this one on the dems not co operating
Some of the press is getting what’s happening right when they write their headlines, but McCarthy and the GOP is still getting the benefit from a lot of bad editors.
So while the NY Times, to their credit, gets their headline right: “Right Wing Tanks Stopgap Bill in House, Pushing Government Toward a Shutdown” and some other outlets are pointing to the GOP, other outlets like CNN are using factually wrong passive voice construction “Government shutdown nears as Congress continues negotiations.”
AP gets it right here: “Government shutdown nears as McCarthy’s plan collapses” but falls on its face here: “President Biden says the looming shutdown isn’t his fault. Will Americans agree with him?”
The answer to that last question is not, as the article claims, a function of “polarization” but whether political reporters and editors choose to tell the truth or launder GOP strategy.
yeah its definitely worth checking multiple news sources nowadays
tho its kind of impressive how far away from house replubicans cant put a bill together coz some of them wont sign anything that doesnt include cutting all funding to ukraine the headlines get
@Farscythe I probably enjoyed the rattan story more than current events . . .
I’m surprised there’s only one dealer left in LA. The good stuff is really nice, and it’s both strong and light.
I get that it’s a specific style, but one or two pieces are easy to mix with other styles unless you’re someone who has to have every single thing in your house be from exactly the same place. For LA patios and courtyards it seems like it would always be in demand.
Ugh, it’s my birthday today. And it’s another one of those dumb ones where all you really get is just another year older.
I tied a pony to your front door this morning. Did it get away?
Oh, the front door? Probably not, but I wouldn’t be surprised if one of those damn porch pirates decided to become a damn porch jockey and got to it before I did. . . .
Happy birthday!
@Perdido Happy birthday!!!! 😊 🥳🎉🎂
Happy birthday regardless.
To be fair, I think that way about most of my adult birthdays.
…many happy returns
I’ve been getting a ton of advisory emails this week suggesting best practices during a government shut down. They amply illustrate all the ways shut downs immediately and directly hurt real people. Weaponizing funding for the union is just so petty. Stupid plastic, grifting, cruel politicians.
…things like specifically voting to reduce the salary of a specific post…like the person in charge of voice of america to $1…is somewhere between a stunt & begging to have a vote on not paying for these assholes to waste time & break the government?
