Hi, friends!
I’m writing to you from the DMV. Please send help. It’s 2:22pm, who knows how long I’ll be here.
Where do you go where you wish someone would rescue you? Inlaws? The bank? Wallyworld?

The last time I went to the DMV I was taking my daughter to get her learner’s permit renewed. There was a surprisingly good little storefront Chinese takeout place a few doors down.
Good cheap Chinese food is an excellent way to escape for a little while.
Sometimes when I am working w/ my friend that can’t seem to say no to people for odd projects, I text my beer buddies a pic w/ no context saying “help”. It is usually from under a house or in an attic or once from scaffolding 30ft up fixing a brick chimney. They just laugh & suggest we quit for beers.
If you went to the RMV in MA instead it’d have been 3:22pm so you’d have been able to fast forward an hour. Sorry that that’s all I have to add.
I don’t think time travel will help at the DMV.
My happy place is gone. Whenever I was stressed or pissed off at work, I’d go to Toys’R’Us on my lunch hour. I’d walk up and down the aisles and look at toys. I’d check out Legos and look at action figures and browse through the Hot Wheels and it always made me feel better. When the fucking investors destroyed it I almost cried.
Don’t judge me.
I can only imagine a Florida Toys R Us!
I used to love Toys R us. I never got to buy anything but it was fun to ride the bikes in the store and see all the toys up close. The ironic thing is that seeing the toys IRL never matched with the magic of their commercials or my imagination. So I didn’t feel too sad about leaving TRU empty handed. Plus I always brought a quarter or loonie with me for those gumball toy vending machines at the exit.
AND RIDE THE BIKES…add that to my rant below!
This is my favourite comment of all time!
The only Toy’r’Us anywhere near where I grew up was in a TOWN 90 mins away from the CITY in which I resided.
Way out in Belleville (in which I resided twice and for a total of 6 years starting a decade later).
I remember going there and playing basketball…playing hockey…sampling video games…playing football in the aisles…
fast forward to 2018…i wanted to buy a gift for my brand new 11 yo daughter who stumbled upon my lap (for which i am very much grateful today, thank you) and it was like ikea for toys. there were no sortie signs…no aisles…just an ikea-like maze to solve in order to GTFO.
Yeah they really killed something that was basically perfect. RIP, Toys’R’US.
Work. Today is an extra long day and pretty damn stupid which makes it feel even longer.
The all-company “Town Hall” meeting on Zoom. Kill me now.
