Situation Normal? [DOT 14/8/20]

Yesterday’s DOT was title Situation Normal, but I think what we’re really looking at is more of a FUBAR type deal.

I don’t have have near the fortitude to read ALL the news, so here’s a summary of SOME of it. If you have anything else to share, drop it below the line por favor.

Does it seem like some progress is being made here? Why else have the meeting?

Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron met with Breonna Taylor’s family for the first time on Wednesday, more than 150 days after Louisville Police killed her in her home.

  1. That CNBC tweet: That introductory note/chapter you sometimes find in the beginning of books is called a foreword, not a forward. I am over the age of 25 so no one would hire me to be a Social Media Manager, which is too bad, because the job doesn’t seem to be that difficult and must be in demand. OK, Boomer, I know (I’m oldest Gen X, close enough.)

  2. I wouldn’t count on Daniel Cameron pursuing justice for  Breonna Taylor. He’s a McConnell protege being groomed to run against Andy Beshear, and eventually McConnell’s seat when he retires.

  3. Postal Service warns 46 states their voters could be disenfranchised by delayed mail-in ballots

Anticipating an avalanche of absentee ballots, the U.S. Postal Service recently sent detailed letters to 46 states and the District of Columbia warning that it cannot guarantee all ballots cast by mail for the November election will arrive in time to be counted — adding another layer of uncertainty ahead of the high-stakes presidential contest.

The letters sketch a grim possibility for the tens of millions of Americans eligible for a mail-in ballot this fall: Even if people follow all of their state’s election rules, the pace of Postal Service delivery may disqualify their votes.

The Postal Service’s warnings of potential disenfranchisement came as the agency undergoes a sweeping organizational and policy overhaul amid dire financial conditions. Cost-cutting moves already have delayed mail delivery by as much as a week in some places, and a new decision to decommission 10% of the Postal Service’s sorting machines sparked widespread concern the slowdowns will only worsen. Rank-and-file postal workers say the move is ill-timed and could sharply diminish the speedy processing of flat mail, including letters and ballots. …
