Yesterday’s DOT was title Situation Normal, but I think what we’re really looking at is more of a FUBAR type deal.

I don’t have have near the fortitude to read ALL the news, so here’s a summary of SOME of it. If you have anything else to share, drop it below the line por favor.

        • In New York we have The Mysterious Case of the Disappearing Public Trash Bins
           
          They disappear for two reasons.
           
          1.) There is a theory that with fewer trash bins people will be less likely to generate trash. This is why they removed some from the subway system, to dissuade people from eating and drinking I guess. The theory is flawed and the subways became filthier than ever. Now, with covid-19, for the first time since the La Guardia administration, subway stations are actually cleaned more regularly and more thoroughly.
           
          2.) Though they weigh a ton people steal the old-fashioned metal wire mesh ones, because they have a scrap metal resale value of about $50. We have a redemption fee of 5¢ per can on some drinks, so you’d have to collect 1,000 cans from these bins and haul them to a recycling center (I believe all of Manhattan has only one, and it keeps irregular hours) to get $50, so it is actually easier just to steal the bin itself. 
           
          New York is a very weird and counter-intuitive place.

        • Even worst, they are shutting down sorting machines and destroying them to slow down the mail.  Some states have already experienced the delays causing problems in the primary.  Ballots sent well before the due date aren’t arriving until after the last day they count ballots.

  4. I wouldn’t count on Daniel Cameron pursuing justice for  Breonna Taylor. He’s a McConnell protege being groomed to run against Andy Beshear, and eventually McConnell’s seat when he retires.
