Hope all is well this holiday weekend for Canadian-stanis and a regular weekend for the Amerikanskis in the crowd (you get your turn next weekend.)
When did all your effort and planning actually go right?
I had one of those moments this week when I went to see my mom at the dementia clinic. Turns out dad was in a good mood and he wanted to go when I arrived at their seniors home so we went off to the hospital to visit mom (smack dab in downtown Toronto.) I promised the staff that I would get him back to the home for dinner. Despite all the traffic and construction we endured, I got him back just in time for dinner.
We had a good visit and even a fun road trip with my dad which is not usually the case as my dad gets rather agitated (even when he was “normal”) on the road (proving yet again the acorn doesn’t fall far from the crazy oak tree.) He was pretty happy all the way there and back.
Everything worked out as I hoped. It was one of those moments where I dare say it was fun to drive around with my dad.
What moments have you guys had?
The fun neighbors and I went to a farmers market for breakfast and bougie shopping this morning, and that was a good time.
Also they had garlic scapes which are one of my favorite spring veggies!
The rain clouds parted long enough this morning for me to go to my market. I got asparagus, radishes and strawberries as the local produce is starting to roll back in. The rain started up again when I got home.
That’s awesome!
I got some strawberries last weekend from the market and they were completely worthless for flavor. I should have known better, it had been sooooo rainy so of course they were pretty but flavorless. 🙁
Do you quick pickle the radishes or eat them raw?
They either go in salads or I salt them and wilt them.
I survived two back to back playdates today with a migraine. No meltdowns by my kids nor myself. I call that a win. Having pizza for supper as a reward for all of us. Later tonight, I plan on watching episode 4 of Bridgerton and finishing the final book of a series that I’m reading.
Episode 4 redeemed the arc for me.
I was so glad when my kids got old enough to just ask for permission and walk off with friends themselves.
Do you and your kid(s) ever go to a baby gym (I think those are what those are called.) When one of my godsons was born I used to go visit about once a month for a weekend and off to the baby gym we would go. Oh my God. The noise. The physicality of it (because you would put the bébé through their paces.) Sometimes there would be parties and you’d have to mingle with the proud parents.
I have hosted playdates but for dogs. The invitees all make a beeline for Faithful Hound’s crate, I don’t know why, but he’s a gracious host and doesn’t get too territorial.
