Strange But True: All by Himself

Ever hear of a one-man team? Pat McGee of St. Peter’s High School in Fairmont, West Virginia, won a basketball game all by himself.

On March 16, 1937, the St. Peter’s seniors played an intramural basketball game against the sophomores. With the score tied at 32-all, and four minutes and a few seconds left, all of Pat’s teammates fouled out.

Standing alone, McGee not only kept the sophomores from scoring but added three points to his team’s total by sinking a basket from the floor and adding a foul shot. Final score: seniors 35, sophomores 32!
