Some charities use cake sales or flea markets to raise money. The town of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, was the scene of a golf game to raise funds. It was called the Ceres Street Open.
Each player was permitted to use only two irons, a putter, and a tennis racquet. They all played with plastic balls.
The course was laid out through alleyways, along waterfront streets, and across parking lots. Golfers hacked their way into a restaurant lobby, phone booths, and garbage cans. Just for good measure, the course included an outdoor stairway and went through an old colonial house. Since the house was a historic structure, the players had to be careful of their shots.
The winner was a man named Ben Williams. His final shot was a putt that went into a drinking glass.

This is before the insurance industry ruined everything.
This sounds like a great deal of fun!
Definitely better than regular golf.
