Some pitchers can beat a team almost at will. Christy Mathewson of the New York Giants beat the St. Louis Cardinals 24 straight times, from June 16, 1904, to September 15, 1908.
By the same token, some teams can beat a pitcher every time they face him. From April 23, 1966, to July 24, 1969, the Chicago Cubs beat Don Sutton of the Los Angeles Dodgers 13 consecutive times.
