The federal government’s ability to counter cyberespionage, destructive hacks and organized criminal scams is declining under the Trump administration just as artificial intelligence supercharges those threats.
Monetisation is a big thing in Russian hacktivist circles right now, everyone is selling a “hacking training course” or a python wrapper for a bunch of open source tools. KILLNet are selling a WiFi hacking kit and a deauther watch which I guess is at least slightly more interesting than the others.
The drive to try to make money off of hacking pre-dates the Ukraine war, many of these guys were minor Russian cybercriminals who rebranded as patriotic keyboard warriors. What is interesting though is that money seems a bigger focus as each day goes by and Russia ln groups squabble over it lately.
They accuse each other of ripping off their fans and followers and of selling fake training course or broken hacking tools to each other, money has become a wedge between these group alliances when it seemed like nothing could cause them to fall out.

…I dunno…lots of things those could make you pick for a next thought…mine went to whether or not if the court said the lady ought not to have been in DC to get shot by the guy who was working with the US when the president that wasn’t the one in between when all the things the states said it would do in that part of the world were turned into lies by the guy who somehow was back to being in charge again by the time the relevant vetting procedures took in the specific guy who less than a week after their right to remain got called into question in an arbitrary act of fuckery…shot her…how does every part of that not point squarely at the one individual with whom all those bucks theoretically stop at being actionably culpable in an adjudicable sense…but…I don’t necessarily think putting the one embed under the other will automatically mean your first thought would or should go the same exact place next…speaking of which…found it

…there can be no other interpretation…if words still meant stuff & all…that would be enough…you’d have to pull that guy out of that post…even before it got to the no survivors “doctrine” of “war crimes are good, akshully”…because that is an insane line to even think about trying to enforce in any sense that doesn’t make saying it highlight all the ways you can’t make it be true…like…insane insane?
If telling the troops not to follow illegal orders is “sedition,” what do we call colluding with the Kremlin to manipulate the U.S. President into advancing Russian interests over America’s?
…it might be another one I’d struggle to find again but at one point the demented orange dipshit put out a picture of a plaque that had the part the quoting of which he was still calling seditious like it supported his argument that it’s in embossed metal lettering on a wall in a military academy where people learn stuff that doesn’t default to it’s only a crime if it isn’t you doing it
As @gregsargent.bsky.social points out, Trump *has* given illegal orders. But he’s also so allergic to democratic ideals that the very idea of a military (or any other institution) that serves the people rather than the ruler is totally illegible and incomprehensible to him.

Hegseth wasn't chosen as merely a Fox News buffoon who then bumbles his way into war crimes out of machismo incompetence. He was chosen specifically because he is, and has been for a long time, a proud, open, and explicit advocate of war crimes as a good thing we should do.
Pete Hegseth is also one of the biggest defenders of Gallagher, and did so in his capacity as a daytime Fox News host, which predictably caught the attention of Donald Trump
The DC shooter is a man whose work *for the United States* drove him crazy from guilt. That work, conducted at the direction of *our* CIA, allegedly involved murdering civilians. So for Trump to now say that the DC shooting confirms that *Afghans* categorically have shitty values is…. beyond vile.
I joined @cwarzel.bsky.social on the Galaxy Brain Podcast to explain some of the reasons why America, and a lot of other Western democracies, are sliding into authoritarianism and why it's probably inevitable www.youtube.com/watch?v=HvFh…
The DC shooting is a Reichstag Fire.Trump granted the man asylum this spring. Trump agreed with the program that brought him here in 2021. There was full vetting. Trump’s DC op is why this happened. Now it’s being used to end all immigration from nonwhite countries. And undo the Biden presidency.
Trump lied to the nation yet again. He assured us, repeatedly, that this man had never been vetted.Clearly he knew that was a lie, but he also wanted to use the death of a soldier to advance his own personal political agenda. He is the scum of the Earth—and that is inarguable.
NEW: ICE’s policy of mass detaining immigrants w pending deportation proceedings has led to an avalanche of rejections in court. More than 220 judges — including 23 Trump appointees — have called it an illegal distortion of long-settled law. www.politico.com/news/2025/11…
This convicted thug brought more than 400 tons of cocaine into the US.That vastly exceeds the annual seizures by individual countries or even large-scale international ops.The record crop in Colombia alone was estimated to be enough to make about 1,500 tons of cocaine annually.Trump Pardons
I'm not saying Trump wanted him in America to shoot people. I'm saying Trump granted asylum in 2025 because he'd been fully vetted, and Trump supported the program that brought Afghan allies to America in 2021. I'm absolutely *not* suggesting some conspiracy theory that Trump organized the shooting.
What I'm saying is that this tragedy has nothing to do with immigration policy or DC crime and Trump knows it. This man was in the US because of decisions Trump either made or agreed with. But he's now using this shooting as an excuse to change unrelated policies in dictatorial ways.
(🚨) BREAKING: Trump Steals Another $75 Million From Higher Ed, Continuing One of the Most Shameful Heists in the History of Big Government in Any Nation Worldwide
House Dems demanding answers from Nazi Noem.News reports and lawsuits are detailing how female detainees in ICE facilities across the US are being held in inhumane conditions. Accounts of detainees being forced to wear blood-soaked clothing, unable to shower, etc.@jasmineforus.bsky.social
My god, I could write a dissertation on how demented just these two paragraphs of New York Times coverage of the DC shooting are.The details of the shooting begin with Trump sending troops to do law enforcement in a city with plummeting crime. How does that "dovetail neatly" with anything he says?
Stephen Miller’s wife Katie Miller: “We are removing every single illegal alien… a majority of those removed have had serious violent crimes.” 🤥@bakarisellers.bsky.social : “That’s FALSE.”Abby Phillip: “Based on DHS’s own data, a majority have NOT had violent criminal records.”
His imbecilic policies literally caused this mayhem and murder. You have to be the stupidest journalist alive to believe that what actually happened in this situation in any way dovetails with major Trump themes. But of course then the coverage gets worse—implicitly adopting Trump's virulent racism.
Trump is pardoning a convicted drug trafficker, claiming he's been treated harshly.Meanwhile, Repubs just sit there & allow Trump to outright bomb and execute civilian fishermen for being suspected drug traffickers with zero evidence. So execution isn't harsh, but getting convicted is.
How dare the New York Times write—and claim to be doing journalism in writing it—that it can only be said that "not all" of what Trump says about America, crime and immigrants is correct. It's exactly the opposite: there's no evidence that anything whatsoever that he says is correct on these topics.
He was the one who granted asylum to this shooter—and did so because the shooter was fully vetted. And that vetting began under a bipartisan program in 2021 that Trump supported. There's literally no pathway to making anything that just happened in DC sound like proof Trump was right about anything.
The federal government is making open threats of genocidal violence now from its social media platforms.
This is a literal turner diary or siege level Neo Nazi call to action and is an attempt to foment violence against anyone who is not white, male and Christian.
It really cannot be overstated how dangerous this kind of propaganda is and how open this call to a very specific audience is. This is terrorism and those listening will hear its message.
This is a call to action to white power and neo-Nazi groups that have a track record of doing extreme violence against those they target and many of those groups have been actively part of the pan right movement Trump is heading but this is some of the most over[t] signaling imaginable.
This is the kind of language that you would normally see in a mass shooters manifesto, and the same kind of energy are used to radicalize those kind of shooters for decades now. This is a very intentional choice and it’s an extremely dangerous choice. I really am frankly kind of shook at this point
After doing this work for five years publicly, I don’t think I’ve ever seen his blatant called to a very specific type of violence ever from Trump or his inner circle. This is incredibly dangerous, It really cannot be over stressed How incredibly dangerous this is.
A government run by neo-Nazi accelerationist/siege types is legitimately one of the worst case scenarios Anyone probably would have entertained as a realistic path for this to go,but from what they are posting, it appears that is exactly what we are dealing with and that is a path no one is east[*] for

If New York Times journalists can so easily be conned by the third-grade rhetoric Trump uses to turn any situation to his advantage, what hope does the NYT think any average news-reading American has of remaining unaffected by the colossal and utterly grotesque con job Trump is subjecting us all to?
To top it off, this so-called analysis leaves out the fact that it was Trump who created the plan for the withdrawal from Afghanistan that the two paragraphs above imply Biden crafted from whole cloth and Trump opposed. If you read the above two paragraphs credulously, you get *wildly* misinformed.
Reading the deposition he gave in Chicago you can understand why it is that Judge Ellis tore into him.The first substantive question is "What is your role in Operation Midway Blitz?" Bovino essentially gives his title and no further details. 8 pages later, the lawyer gives up.
This is Nazism. And the only reason some folks cannot see it is because they, themselves, are also dangerous fascists. This may be the most un-American statement ever uttered by a man currently serving as co-President of the United States. It spits in the face of everything America is.
The core principle of our democracy is that each human is an individual, not representative of the successes or failures of ancestors or other members of their religion, race, ethnicity, gender, nationality. Anyone who knows US history understands that Miller is speaking like a Nazi—not an American.
Trump Pardon Reminder:Trump’s second-term clemency list includes many people convicted of fraud, bribery, tax crimes, restitution obligations, etc. White-collar offenders are often wealthier and potentially able to make political contributions or provide other value.Trump $$$ racket.Plus…
Most of Trump's pardon orders have wiped out the requirement for convicted people to pay restitution or fines.Effectively freeing them from large financial liabilities. That’s a direct financial benefit to the pardon recipient and a loss to victims or the government.
Don’t forget about Ross Ulbricht who created Silk Road, pardoned the day after the inanguration. It is estimated that he had > $30M in crypto wallets when convicted AND when pardoned.
Personal but professionally informed opinion, yes, absolutely
You're not seeing the defense and international conflict experts disagreeing because if the facts are true, it's one of the most basic things in the law of armed conflict: You cannot kill people who are "hors de combat," taken out of the game by injury or attack. This is Geneva 101 stuff.
these rules of engagement also endanger our troops: if we tell the rest of the world that our armed forces operate under “no quarter” orders, then every US service member is at risk of being treated the “American” way instead of by the book
It may not happen soon, but Mitch Bradley should remember that he can be recalled to duty someday and court martialed for ordering murder.
🧵I often get mobbed when I say this, but it was a mistake for liberals & leftists to cede "western civilization" to the fascists. "The West" and "Western" are important political identities. Abandoning them is no smarter than refusing to offer a positive vision of American national identity.

(MORE) Moreover, as you can see from the New York Times map below, Venezuela is NOT the cause of the U.S. fentanyl problem.*Pacific* Ocean transits (not Atlantic ones) from places like Colombia and Mexico are.So this entire war BEGINS as a grotesquely conspicuous fraud upon the American people.

If by some miracle the whole AI industry falls apart because some tech bros decided to spend trillions on compute without spending maybe tens of millions a year on licensing art, I will laugh so hard I’ll be in danger of a ruptured spleen.
The OpenAI ruling writers should know about 👀 (if your work was scraped for LLM training, this affects you). www.hollywoodreporter.com/business/bus…
Those datasets (the definitely-not-hiding-anything sets labeled “books 1” and “books 2”) contained 100,000+ copyrighted and scraped books (novels, non-fiction, etc.). Sans consent or author compensation, of course.
At this point, we’ve known for years that big tech companies have used pirated copyrighted work to train their AI models, as well as vast quantities of online works (like fanfic, blog posts, etc.). Without them, these LLMs would effectively not exist.
But if the court finds OpenAI knowingly trained on pirated books and deleted the evidence to to avoid scrutiny, that could mean actual consequences to the tune of billions of dollars.

To put a finer point on this whole thing: "Two people with direct knowledge of the operation" — presumably uniformed military leaders — are accusing the U.S. Secretary of Defense of personally ordering specific war crimes. That's a historic accusation.
It would be quite the thing if Senator Mark Kelly is recalled to service and put before a court-martial for that video, while documented examples of apparent war crimes are leaked to the media.
It also goes to just how much Hegseth is loathed in the middle and upper officer ranks and senior civil service of the armed forces. They wouldn’t have leaked something like this if they didn’t outright hate him.

Among other things, the (nebulous but clearly unconstitutional) attack on naturalized US citizens contained in this screed is a significant escalation.
Trump makes the outrageous claim that “most” immigrants, which include over 25 million U.S. citizens, “are on welfare, from failed nations, or from prisons, mental institutions, gangs, or drug cartels.” As insulting as the “deplorables” comment, and on Thanksgiving day no less.
Which isn’t that surprising tbh, they make a bunch of promises and talk shit about the primes while Ukrainians making drones out of their garage are more effective
This whole thing is racist, but take particular note of the threat of denaturalization. That's stripping people of their citizenship, and that's the road to mass murder and atrocity.

Everyone in politics, everyone in media knows what’s happening here: the White House is controlled by a repellant white supremacist who waits with bated breath for any opportunity to run nonwhite people out of America. They know who it is, what he’s doing. But they won’t SAY it.
The number of British citizens emigrating hasn’t increased, btw. Outward migration is up, but the increase is mostly non-EU migrants leaving the UK.The methodology counting emigration of British citizens changed in 2021, which increased the number, and it’s been pretty much flat ever since…
The US federal government is openly warring against its own nonwhite population in a way no one alive has ever experienced. It’s not even getting to hide it. The overt bigotry is comparable to Jim Crow. And our pathetic, cowed, putrid political class just keeps pretending it isn’t even happening.
I say this mostly because Reform and certain journalists friendly to them seem determined to start a “white flight” narrative since net migration has dropped so dramatically. It’s not true. It’s not even close to true.
And it’s all flowing from a tiny handful of diehard racists and nativists who have seized unprecedented power by puppeteering an almost incomprehensibly corrupt and unfit president towards a nativist agenda that would have made the KKK proud.AND EVERY KEEPS ACTING LIKE EVERYTHING IS NORMAL.
Effectively there is no *one* person performing the duties of President of the United States right now. We are in an interregnum with an occupied throne.

I reported a few months ago that in August Microsoft had only 8 million active paying users of Microsoft 365 Copilot. So tired of his company! Wow you’re gonna have 220 million paying subscribers, crazy, are you going to conjure a genie too? How about a dragon? Fantastical bullshit
Satan: 'This is the river of lava where you'll suffer for all eternity.'Me: 'We're underground, so this is magma, not lava.'Satan: 'You do know THAT'S why you're here, don't you?'🤷
…like I need another reason after taking this long to not get to the fucking point…but…at the risk of it turning out it’s me taking things too far despite all evidence to the contrary
There's this modern meme about how every death in war is a war crime. And here we have Pete just fucking do one. Just dudes clinging to a fucking raft of boat debris in the middle of the ocean hundreds of miles from shore. And they just fucking did it. Pete told them to.
…the thing is…I guess that works backwards for me?
…seems like they deleted a few…so let’s say I found this somewhere else & it’s merely juxtaposition that brings it up in conjunction this way
Hey yeah we got the most impressive weapon systems in history of the world that can target a button on your coat from 1500 miles and we’re gonna kill a random dude hugging a raft with like 3 million dollars and do it twice.
What the fuck are we doing here.
What the fuck are we doing.
Anyway thanks for subscribing to my interactive being an American simulator
…so…look…it’s a shitshow…but…the extent to which these people don’t know the beginnings of how much they don’t know can not be exaggerated…so…here goes
When you learn about the lower levels of electronics below the abstractions you're just like there's no fucking way this goddamn works. Holy shit oh my god. They traced it on fucking paper and shrunk it with a lens? And that was the easy early part???It's all unbelievable hell. All the way down.
By the way hard drives don't store your data in one's and zeros and neither do communication lines because you eventually reach the precision gradient of the timing signal where all the ones or zeros consecutively are indistinguishable so they have to encode it in different ones and zeros.
20-year packaged media authoring veteran, putting pits and lands onto shiny plastic discs so viewers can be prevented from skipping past a copyright warning. So is a pit 0 and a land 1, or is a pit 1 and a land 0?
Neither!
The transition from one state to the other is a 1.
Also, for error correction purposes, different patterns of fourteen bits represent different patterns of eight bits. So there is no one-to-one correspondence of pits and lands to the data actually being demultiplexed, decoded and presented by the player.
oh shit I hope I got this right, it’s been over a decade since I had to deal with disc data at the physical spec level. Dang, I wish I had something to promote.
😲
😊
In modern high-rate network communications they actually work in four different gradients of the high-low electrical signal so good luck with that too dawg.Welcome to the infinite depth of hell
Bit-stuffing and HDLC-like encoding at the physical level, Disc Description Protocol format level, volume format level, file spec level, elementary bitstream spec level, navigation and presentation info spec level… it’s frames and encoding all the way down
Also, ones and zeros don't exist. They are our understood significant abstraction representations of an analog world were there is literally no absolute in measuring and we use electronics to lie to us about it.Good luck!
This is a video I watch probably every three months and have for many years. There is so much beauty and thought and human capability in the shape of our world. Even in its immense flaws.youtu.be/hUhisi2FBuwWhere you can forget, and call a plane an aluminum can, as if insult. It's all miracles.
The story of metallurgy is the story of humanity and it was all a hack for most of it. These things you hold, these things you trust as cheap and disposable – are miracles. That is the story of so much of your life. These things people hold because they're cheap, but never understand the price of.
What you hold is in fact priceless. Do you have any idea what it takes to produce a ton of any modern metal? It is the most incredible and intricate thing in the world. It is the journey of modernity realizing itself. What has been created is system making it accessible to your hands. To hold it.
The generations of systems to produce metal at scale are immense and intricate but they are not cognitive ones they are incredibly physical. The cognitive generations have been immense but in the end you have to pour molten metal into a product that isn't even the final one.
I'm fully self-taught on optical data transmission, to the point that I specced, QA'ed, and then improved direct imports from Shenzhen factories.QAM fucked my brain. I couldn't believe it.And then I realized optical trails electrical and in particular radio by literal *decades*
And then you have the scheduling algorithms and and and and yeah no one has the whole picture in depth.(I say this as someone who spent approximately five years of their life litigating over 3G and 4G patents – which are a lot simpler than 5G.)
You could argue there’s zero, because the people who understand coding at the PHY layer don’t deal with (or really understand) the A/D hardware and the amps and filters at a deep level. (Not to even get into network layers, which are nightmarish, but aren’t really the “radio”.)
You're coasting dawg your coasting on math in semiconductors you're entirely aimless this is all a dream being told to you in lies about you you control the destiny of your lifeIt's the radios dawg. The radios that control everything. And no one will tell you no one understands it.
…&…what if I told you none of that works if you don’t have atomic-clock level timekeeping?
After Tierra Walker died, her family was confused by her medical care.“They didn’t want to offer to end the pregnancy, because the government or someone says you can’t?” her aunt said. “So you’d rather let somebody die?”
…but…sure…let’s let the people who couldn’t give you the time of day even if they wanted to be in charge of all of that because “they understand the internet better”…fuck…anyway…sorry…at least it’s sunday?

That insight about the Nazi “dual state” concept was brilliant and something I’d never come across before. It’s true. When Hitler came to power the Jews didn’t start being exterminated overnight. In fact Dachau, in a prosperous Munich suburb, was built to hold political prisoners, a lot of whom actually completed sentences and were let go.
No, the Jewish people had the screws tightened slowly but surely. There was always anti-Semitism:
(I have this book of course.) (PS: @bryanlsplinter , I am closing my parens!)
A corollary to this is “anti-Semitism without the Jews.” One of the things about Jewish life in prewar Germany is that Jewish people weren’t allowed to own farmland, so they were an intensely urban population. When you live in a densely populated city, like Berlin, a lot is known about you. So, the Jews were known.
In the beginning things went along. Then laws and statutes started to be passed. If you served in the Great War you were stripped of your pension. If you married a non-Jew and raised your children as Lutherans, say, that wasn’t good enough. But you were still a citizen, with access to the courts and a right of appeal. Then came the Nuremberg Laws, which stripped Jews of their citizenship and made them stateless. All bets were off. Synagogues were closed. The yellow stars. The retail boycotts. The exclusion from schools yet they were forbidden to run yeshivas, so education was done clandestinely. Jews were forbidden to own pets. Cruelty for its own sake. Barbarism. Trumplestilsken would have loved it. [WARNING: GODWIN’S LAW] Like Hitler, Der Trumpenführer is an insane megalomaniac with questionable taste in interior decor. And he likes to hear himself speak. And he famously has dreadful taste in art. And he has his Berchtesgaden in the form of Mar-A-Lago.
What led me down this dark path, aside from 40+ years of studying (formally, and now informally @bryanlsplinter the parens are closing…)
Oh, I know. We have this huge population of people who may not have been born here, or maybe their parents weren’t. I have a friend who’s Belgian and another friend who’s Dutch, a beautiful blonde as tall as I am, and Italians and English people up the wazoo. I guarantee you none of them are going to be rounded up by ICE. I don’t know their status. They all have professional jobs and speak English more or less fluently so I guess they pass among us unmolested. (@farscythe the Dutch friend told me one of the filthiest jokes I’ve ever heard but I can’t remember it. Well, I suppose I wouldn’t repeat it here.)
Happy Sunday! Today is the first day of Advent so drag out your Advent calendar that you bought online on Black Friday…was that just me? And it marks the start of the Great Wreath-Off! Yes! We’re always the first to go, and then our frenemies next door try to outdo us and catch up. People (used to) come to our apartment and they’d say, “I love your wreath! But what’s going on next door? It’s a little over the top, isn’t it? Do they realize what they’re doing?”
“They never have people over. No one sees it except the people on this floor and their DoorDash people. We turn away from it to get to the elevators so we don’t have to look at it.”
PS: I was on the phone with a Customer Service Rep yesterday and when we concluded the call she wished me a “Merry Christmas.” The War on Christmas is officially over.
It should be a law that politicians can’t lie. Our inepticon leader of the Maple MAGAts PP wouldn’t have anything to fucking say. Nor would half our versions of Newsmax.
In David Hackworth’s autobiography “About Face” of his change from hard charging warrior to hard charging peacenik, he wrote about the obsession of MACV high command’s obsession with the body count during the Vietnam War. In a lot of units, it didn’t matter if it was Vietnamese civillians or NVA/VC bodies, dead was dead and tallied so there were a lot of free fire incidents where troops just opened up on groups of people without identifying them.
Hackworth insisted on tight rules of engagement. Identify before zapping them in accordance with the Geneva Convention. He knew that killing civilians wantonly didn’t exactly win hearts and minds.
It’s not easy to do, but you do it to protect your honor and (sometimes) your conscience.
As for the war criminal Kegsbreath… he just thinks there is no way the enemy (the Dims/Dems) won’t do it to him because he’s arrogant and stupid just like his boss.
This is why you don’t start it. Now that the cat’s out of the bag, there will be blood.
…I know…it really got out of hand today…although wordpress still seemed convinced it was a sub-15min read…which is…a feat I’m not sure I could achieve without cheating?
…either way I’m pretty sure it can’t be as bad on tuesday…surely
[…also I might have buried a lede…@farscythe there’s a sick boi part 2 from your boy ren somewhere in the playlist]
Also I really hope they pull up full shenanigans and make Mark Kelly and the other dem congress people have a hearing about “sEdItIoN” and Kelly pulls up in full military uniform and reads them to filth over it.

Seriously, this guy needs to be investigated.
Nothing is real.
Ok RIP, I am no longer thankful, my eyes and my brain hurt. I hope you are happy!
Be strong, we can survive this DOT if we all work together.

This DOT gave me motion sickness with all the scrolling this morning.

I am sure this will help with the fake news distribution…
