Hi, friends! Happy Sunday!
Happy Mother’s Day, to the mothers and the mother effers out there!
How did your weekend go? Enjoyable?
I got some plants in the ground, like I wanted to do yesterday. I need to eat more kale and lettuce before I have space to plant a few more things, but they’re fine in the little containers until then.
And maybe I bought more plants. Don’t judge me, don’t you dare judge me!
Yay plants! No judgment here!!
No judgement from me either. I want to transform the inside of my house into a jungle. I don’t have a green thumb but I’ve managed to keep all five house plants that I bought last Fall alive. That means I should get more, right? Yes!
YESSSS
Not great. Found out one of my close friends needs emergency heart surgery next week.
Been eating home made food all week. For some reason been craving greasy food today. I ordered a steak frites at a greasy spoon whose exterior is familiar if you saw Reacher Season 2 (it’s partially filmed in the Toronto area.)
Where bikers took on the gang after “prom” and ends with a painful epic beatdown.
I got a lot done this weekend, even though it didn’t feel like it at the time. Sometimes, you just gotta push on through.
Got home from brew adventure on Saturday afternoon & was immediately put to work building another raised bed for asparagus & my goji berry plant. Then today wife dragged the eldest daughter to her favorite nursery. She didn’t spend money on plants! (because she had a ton of gift cards!) Then we spent the rest of the day planting sunflowers, giving away tomato plants & peppers & reseeding grass. We also cleared out compost bin. Crazy busy weekend, surprised I was able to get her in with the sun still out but she was exhausted & I bribed her w/ a nice beer & I made chicken and brocoli.
If the neighbor’s trees ever come down, I’ll have way more light in the back of my yard. Then I’ll put in an asparagus bed, but I sadly don’t have the space with enough light yet.
This is our first attempt & sounds like a long game but we have a sunny spot w/ deep soil so I’ll let you know in a few years if it works out?
Yeah my understanding is it takes about 3-4 years for asparagus beds to start producing enough to eat.
and happy Mother’s Day to all the Moms with us & not. This is my first one without my mom & I really miss her.
