Hi, friends!
How did your weekend go? Get stuff done? Ready for Monday?
I had plans cancel twice and it was awesome because I needed to clean my house and not eat junk food all weekend.
Anything good happenning this week?

Lots of driving! Went down to Portland on Saturday morning for a wedding. We got to the border by lunchtime & hit an amazing “Detroit pizza” brewery with excellent pizza & beer. Then did some quick wine tasting & hit the local farmers market. We got to our inn about 90 minutes before the wedding & since parking everywhere was a problem, walked the 1.5 miles to the wedding. It was fun but they ran out of food & booze early. Also, they are hippies so everyone banged drums on the dance floor which got old quick. We left early for our long walk in the dark & hit a bar on the way back. Got up at 630am & headed home at 8am to avoid crazy Sunday traffic. I’m pretty exhausted. Monday might wait until Tuesday!
That wedding situation sounds like something I’d find fun and unique at age 23 but now would be like ugh YOUTHS.
@Loveshaq, was the wedding for your friends or for the children of friends? I am currently at a lull in weddings. Friends are already married (any number of times) and their children are either too young or, too, are already married. A few years back a friend’s son married in a forested park in WA, complete with hand fasting, universal self-written vows, and period costumes from the gold rush period. Hippie weddings for the win!
I’ve been friends with the bride & her brother since high school. She has grown kids that have grown up with my girls. The officiant looked like Foster Brooks & spoke like a Druid. They faced each direction for earth elements & some ropes were involved (semi-bondage thing?). Very Portlandia episode but touching & heartfelt. They have both been through some rough times so amazing when people in their 50s find love again.
Went to the farmers market this morning, bought more watermelon, sweet corn, and green beans. That’s about it.
Yum! I did not get a watermelon this weekend and I regret that decision.
I go through 2 a week! It’s my favorite fruit.
I worked for a few hours, shared insights here, and discovered to my delight that episodes of the old Jon Lovitz animated show “The Critic” are available on Youtube so I watched three or four of those.
The drought’s been so bad that I mowed the lawn today for the first time in a month.
We’ve got a build freeze taking place on Friday so this week will be busy with unit testing and ramming as much shit into production as possible before then.
Tonight I had to explain to my dad that his neighbors using an xbox isn’t causing his internet to not stream his weirdass right wing tv shows.
After I had to explain that it also wasn’t because his internet service provider was not censoring his viewing since he was using a third party streaming platform and they had no clue what even he was watching.
Fucking boomers.
How did you resist the urge? I would’ve ran with that one…
Nope not worth it. Because he already believes a lot of dumb shit and if I encourage any of it, it’s going to get worse because “well my daughter said___ and she works in IT so it’s real.”
