Hi, friends!
I hope you had a productive day. Or at least a decent day. All things considered.
Did you do anything good? I did a lot of yard work and got some spring veggies in the ground. It might be too early, I might be frantically covering them Wednesday, but I think it will be fine.
Anyways, gardening brings me a lot of peace and comfort so it was a good way to spend about an hour today.
Visited dad. He’s doing okay. Usually just watching outside. Went food shopping. Took care of stuff at the parents house that has been aggravating me. Basically where the fuck I’m going to put a china cabinet during the Reno. Lost my temper at both sisters because they both gave me shit for not dealing with it and not communicating it to them in a timely manner and respectful Tone. Yet I’m the one stuck with the mess and little less assholish attitude would be nice but they’re not the ones who have to deal with it. I didn’t respond because I didn’t have a fucking clue how I was going to do it and I know they’re busy plus they would have given me shit for not having a solution.
China cabinets are a white whale situation nowadays. I get why boomers wanted them. I get that they were supposed to telegraph wealth and success and show off that china, Brenda! Store the soup tureens in the cabinets, Ethel! And if we lived in a society here where people were still formally entertaining, it would make sense.
Finding a spot for them is a commitment in a house, unless you luck out and have a dining room. Even when there is space along a wall for one, getting it to the spot is a pain in the ass.
tl;dr this situation sounds like a pain and I’m sorry you’re dealing with it.
It really is for people of a certain age… Not me. I don’t have enough room for plates or cash for fancy China. These silverwear, cups and plates are really nice, but we only used them once or twice a year.
The only good thing about certain styles of China cabinets is that I use them as model cabinets.
Oh yeah, I can definitely see some designs being great for model display.
I just have a really small house, which overall I love. If I had a dining room and a china cabinet do you know what else I’d do? Buy more housewares I don’t need and won’t use to fill that china cabinet!
It is a pain (especially my dang foot.) I just wish my sisters were more aware of the fact I’m doing this myself and don’t have any fucking help.
Went for a tough run, cleaned up, and then rode the bike down to an outdoor beer-garden, where 55 degrees (F) in the sun felt like 75. Not a bad Sunday at all. Getting my Monday posts done now — also not bad.
Something silly.
Magic photo dance!
I caught up with friends irl, played Pokopia and made lasagna. It’s been a good day.
That is a lovely day! I hope you have leftovers, lasagna is better the next day. 🙂
We’re visiting Chicago, so we left the garden to fend for itself. If it grows, it grows. We did mix in a load of goat shit and ashes from the wood stove before we left. Only a few things are in the ground, so who knows?
