Hi, friends!
I hope your weekends went well.
Short and sweet topic of the night – tell us something you’re hoping to do this week.
I’ve got a big presentation I need to plan out for work, which has to be done but booooooo not fun.
I also need to clean up the pile of stuff happening in my bedroom. I suspect there’s clothing I don’t recall having in there. Also I’m missing a box of disposable masks and I wonder if they’re in the pile.
I need to get my youngest an American passport and apply for Canadian citizenship for both of them. That’s been on the back burner for 2 years. We’re considering finally visiting Montreal at the end of summer.
I need to start getting organized for taxes. I don’t think I have any huge surprises, but obviously the past year has had things going on and I haven’t paid full attention to all of it.
I want to understand how it all works so I avoid Turbotax/Intuit etc. and also because they’re really sleazy companies. I may break down this year, but I want to give homemade taxes a fighting chance before I do.
I normally do my own and this year was a tried and failed attempt. So I got a referral for a CPA and I’m waiting to hear back from them.
Honestly I’m at the point where I’d like to throw money at that problem to not have to worry that I did them wrong.
I’ve been using the H&R Block software for the past few years myself, and I’ve been quite happy with it.
Other-Husband had somehow never seen Black Panther (he’s both a movie nerd and a comics nerd, so it’s unusual that he missed it!), so we made a “picnic” lunch of cheese, apples, bread, apple-maple preserves, rotisserie chicken, and pickles and watched it today. It was really nice, especially because we both put our phones out of reach!
BabySmacks starts a new schedule for 2nd semester tomorrow, and he’s going to be bussed in the morning, so I won’t have to be up at the crack of dawn, which I’m definitely looking forward to.
This week, I have a crochet project to finish and send out. I also hope to tackle Mt. Clothesmore in my bedroom, because I have a closet full of clothes I haven’t worn in 3 years and a couple hampers full of the clothes I’m actually wearing right now. Need to sort out what’s actually worth keeping and what can get donated, and then put away the rest.
Yay! I’m so excited you aren’t having to get up so early now!
Boss wants us back in the office tomorrow. So, I guess make it though the week Covid free?
I’m excited about the pending snowpocalypse since that will be my excuse to work from home hopefully later in the week.
Good luck, and I hope you don’t get covid.
The past week was difficult, and emotionally exhausting for a lot of reasons. I’m just hoping to have a better one.
Goddamn right. . . .
So that big project I was handed to launch by Tuesday is going to go down to the wire. When my boss got back last week I told him that the initial structure (which was not mine) created too many needless complexities and irreconcilable problems. I said we should make a change to the structure that would make everything simpler and fix the unfixable problems. He asked if I could do it all on Monday and I said yes. We’ll find out if I’m a liar or not.
My week/weekend went very sideways: She Who Is My Wife wasn’t feeling well mid-week and after testing negative twice, tested Covid-positive on Friday. So she’s been holed up in the bedroom while my son and I have tried to steer clear. She’s very fatigued, she’s lost her taste and has a low-grade fever, but has avoided the headaches or cough or some of the nastier symptoms. So far I have tested negative, and my son has shown zero symptoms (which is what I am most concerned about) but we’re going to test him in the morning to find out for sure. It’s been OK, other than a lot more couch sleeping than my back is used to.
That really sucks. I hope she starts to feel better soon and that you two manage to stay covid negative.
I’m hoping to purchase some travel insurance for the trip and then maybe do a bit of closet-cleaning.
