March was supposed to come in like a lion and go out like a lamb, but it does not appear to be cooperating.
Rip keeps pretending he has to ‘go to bed’ and ‘get some sleep’ because his time zone is ‘supposedly’ a bunch of hours ahead of us.
But I know none of us are sleeping these days!
However, I guess the joke’s on you all, because I got stuck with the DOT and you got stuck with me.

On Monday, Florida sheriff’s deputies arrested the evangelical pastor, who has continued to host large church services despite public orders urging residents to stay home to help contain the spread of the novel coronavirus.

How does one logically come to this conclusion?
Joe Biden said Monday he still opposes a “Medicare for All” system for health care coverage, arguing that the policy isn’t the answer to the growing coronavirus emergency.

Chin up!
“How does one logically come to this conclusion?“
Because when you are wholly owned by corporate interests you’ll ignore reality for as long as it takes. Bernie needs to hammer his ass on this.
Biden needs to pull his head out of is ass now. He won’t win without embracing Medicare for All. Pretty much every poll (yes, I’m aware of the irony of me citing polls after I debunked them yesterday) shows the majority of the American public favors Medicare for All. It’s no longer a fringe movement and Uncle Joe needs to get on board. If he’s going to run by defending the status quo, he’s already lost.
Here’s a good examination of MFA and public opinion:

Tomie daPaola’s books were a hit with my kids when they were toddlers, and unlike a lot of kids books they had coherent, interesting stories so us parents didn’t go nuts after reading them twice.
And the illustrations are beautiful.
fuckin Biden…
How’s that saying go? The Democrats will snatch defeat from the jaws of victory….
You forgot the “At EVERY (goddamn) opportunity they can!” part😕🙃🥴
Every.Single.Time.
They ARE the Minnesota Vikings of political gamesmanship…
If there is ANY way to squeak a loss out of the situation, they will find it.😖
This made me laugh. Annoyed seems like a mild response.
“I’m shocked and unbelievably annoyed that this has happened,” said Singer Laren museum director Jan Rudolph de Lorm.
It’s funny you mention that because I saw a different article that said he was “pissed” and I wondered if it was a difference in translation?
Either way, he seems quite peeved.
You’re probably right about it being a translation issue. Pissed definitely makes more sense than annoyed!
For anyone who wants to read an interview skewering a right wing libertarian who was a key corinavirus denialist source for the White House, see this:

Isaac Chotiner, the interviewer, has Richard Epstein exposing himself as an arrogant, ignorant creep within minutes. And Epstein is a key figure in the right wing legal advocacy world, not just some joke off the street.
The kicker for me is at the end when Epstein huffily claims Bill Gates backs him up on coronavirus restrictions, then Chotiner quotes Gates saying the exact opposite. Epstein then claims it doesn’t matter what Gates said. These right wing advocates are intellectual frauds, but the mainstream press has spent decades propping them up — for years Epstein has gotten space at the NY Times, Washington Post, The Atlantic, all over, to push his idiocy on all kinds of subjects. No editor at those places gave it a second thought.
Another good Chotiner interview is with U Penn professor Amy Wax, who alaso has gotten a lot of mainstream press play for her nutty takes on race:
https://www.newyorker.com/news/q-and-a/a-penn-law-professor-wants-to-make-america-white-again
These people are intellectual frauds, but the press seeks them out and pampers them, because they just want a happy clubhouse.
That Epstein article…. SHEESH, the arrogant stupidity!😳😳😳
That dumbass thinks that the *strength* of the various viruses they’re talking about has decreased, when in… so far, ALL of the *virus* examples he’s bringing up, the morbidity has gone down in society because we’ve developed MEDICINES that work to either treat & kill the virus, or we’ve developed vaccines to spur our immune systems to be able to kill them🙄🙄🙄
JFC, the stupidity and arrogance… it BURNS,it just BURNS.😖🥴
Jeet Heer had a great piece about the way libertarian academics have a history of screwed up understanding of evolution.
https://www.thenation.com/article/politics/epstein-trump-coronavirus-crackpot/
It shows up in their weird dabblings in supposed genetic connections between race and intelligence too. Evolution is a mystical force they have conjured up as a twisted monsterous version of the real thing, which they then apply to justify their lunatic agenda.
And then we get chin strokers in the mainstream media amplifying them in the name of rational debate. What a bunch of bedbugs.
JFC!

Thanks I hate it.
Authoritarians have a long history of doing things that clearly harm even themselves in order to keep the machinery of repression humming along. Which is why I am always suspicious of overly reductive explanations of their motives, like it’s all about money. There are deeper issues at play too.
