Technical Difficulties [NOT 17/12/24]

Hi, friends!

Talk about whatever, I didn’t get time to write up anything useful tonight thanks to my modem being annoying. I think it’s fine now, but you never know.

  1. Anybody else get stressed out that they forgot to get someone a present that will give you one?  I feel this way every year or that I didn’t get the right thing for someone.  Most of the people in my life don’t care about that but it is still a major source of stress.

    • Yes! When I was younger I would just have a few backup presents ready just in case.

Older me just asks people. But because we’ve known each other for years, the question is like “hey confirming we’re not exchanging gifts, right?”

    • nope… but then we only do presents for the kids

kids are easy…find something loud and annoying and bobs yer uncle

enjoy the parents death glares for xmas dinner

adults are near impossible to buy good gifts for as we buy everything we really want ourselves……or its too damn expensive to give as a gift……. well… to anyone you’re not sleeping with anyways

  2. Did you try turning it off and then on again?

One of the weird and annoying things I see repeatedly when I search tech help forums are the people who cape for corporations. Someone will ask how to turn off some “feature” for Windows or want to uninstall a preloaded app from their phone, and people won’t answer the question but will want to know why someone would possibly want to do that.

It’s one thing if it’s a critical system file and everything will crash if it’s changed, but otherwise don’t defend Microsoft’s stupid decisions about their interface.

  3. More physical difficulties.

I strained my left shoulder this morning on my 2nd of 3 12 hour shifts I signed up for because I need the fucking money. At least it’s not a sharp pain like the time I nearly ripped up my right shoulder some 20 years earlier.

Instead of trying to be he-man, I stopped and asked for help, a lot of help, in moving this bulky/heavy piece of equipment.

Meanwhile, I was reminded why I hate Day Shift. Today, we had the managerial inspection of the floor as they hunt for chickenshit things they don’t like in the order they mandated. Unlike yesterday when I was gigged for not bagging and tagging my equipment, my room was flawless. I mostly clamped my stupid big mouth shut and kept my eyes from rolling.

    • That sucks!  Alternate ice & heat if it continues to hurt.  I hurt my back last week moving the fridge & made it worst pouring cement for a fence this week. Sucks as I’m trying to get in shape for an upcoming snowboard trip & it is fucking up my workouts.
