What’s something that you saw this week? Something good that happened to you? I found $80 in a drawer while cleaning. I don’t know why I tossed it in there, but it was a nice surprise to myself from past me!
Tell Me Something Good [NOT 3/9/24]
I had to run a bill to the post office and encountered this mom lying down while her kid ate a snack.
Had my eldest back home all weekend for an early birthday celebration. Got to spoil her with her favorite sushi spot & took her kayaking. We were in a really shallow area of the Sound at low tide & water was only about 2ft deep for miles but we kept seeing little seals following us & swimming under us. My daughter had binoculars & we were using herons as channel markers as they fished on the edge of the sandbar & I didn’t want to get stuck. Then I saw a pile of logs & she confirmed with the binoculars so we tried to paddle around the logs to get to deeper water. As we got about 40 yards from the logs, they all rolled & made a huge splash. They weren’t logs, it was about 25+ seals from tiny to adult & heads were popping up all around us like wack a mole game! We were all freaked out & realized this was where the seals had their pups to be safe from whales. We turned around but it we were followed out of the area. We had a few less than two feet long swim right under us as mom watched from a distance. I have seen lots of seals & sea lions kayaking but nothing like this!
Great stuff. I’ve never seen swimming seals/sea lions, only tons and tons basking and a few just floating and being just as lazy as the baskers.
They are definitely like sea-dogs, super curious. I’ve been followed by them kayaking many times & they will keep popping up around you but never anything in this kind of scale.
Harbour seals are my favourite animals to see in the pacific northwest. Don’t get me wrong…I love seeing orca pods splashing around as frequently as I used to during my weekly treks up the Sea-to-Sky highway toward Whistler but to see an harbour seal mortor across the water whilst all you can see is their little head…priceless.
Got contractors coming in to see what needs to be done. Plan for mid Oct/Nov to fix up the parents house.
Spoke to Dad about it. He was happy we cleaned up their home this weekend and seemed happy we were going to fix up his house. It was a change from the last time several years back where he had a temper tantrum and freaked out on the contractor. Fortunately he will forget all about it today.
@Manchucandidate How are you organizing things? Do you take photos, keep lists, or just toss stuff in boxes to deal with later?
Toss stuff in boxes and semi-organized piles.
Most of the critical items I’ve got and organized.

was not expecting that when dropping of his parcel the postie dumped at mine
almost 7ft of nearly naked muscle answering the door was uncalled for….
*pats beer gut*

You know the guy peeked throught the curtains to see who was knocking first, saw you, and decided you were OK. You should feel honored.
well sure..i guess
mostly i feel like i need to up my workouts a notch tho :p
