I guess the Sacklers didn’t bribe the justices enough (I’m not counting on the Supremes RW gang on developing a conscience when I can attribute to avarice.)
Still too fucking bad. If there were any real justice that family should be forced to live under a bridge and reduced to selling/pushing the drugs they got so rich from.
Maybe that’s the plan. Have the Supremes bounce the suit, and then go through another trial that lets the Sacklers off the hook. Buying a few Supremes has got to cost less than $6 billion. Hell, you can get Alito for a weekend stay at a five-star hotel.
It’s only a delay. I suspect the RW majority SCOTUS wants to pretend to be seriously considering the matter before they find in the Sacklers favor.

Recommendations for organizations to donate to for folks on Maui?
I’d prefer not to donate to mainland based orgs or groups like Red Cross because I feel like on the ground local orgs understand needs better.
I found Maui Food Bank and Hawai’i People’s Fund.

Luckily I have no family on Maui & my big island family live on the wet side that didn’t get the big fires. We do have lots of friends that lost everything but Hawaiians are known for helping each other out & they have all been taken in by Ohana & friends. I’m still in shock I will never chill under the banyan tree on Front St again & lost so many iconic places from my past. I’m back in Sacramento where it is not 100 as usual, thank God! Wife is spending our last days here watching her dad sleep all day & struggle to breath. It is so heartbreaking & a good reminder to never get old!

Ugh. Today I overheard two white women talking about how much they love vacationing in Hawaii. Their hot take was that Hawaiians are lucky that a rich tourist neighborhood was also destroyed by fire because who would be interested in the poor Native Hawaiian ones? My jaw dropped. There are fucking entitled awful people in this world.
