Hope everyone had great week. I did the thing where I fell asleep on my laptop again. It’s only fair really…It’s been A. Week.

      • Nongeneric daily (mostly) medication will definitely add up without some kind of insurance.

From a pure dollars and cents perspective, it’s incredibly cost effective for private and public insurers to back family planning, and it would mean a drop in abortions, but none of that matters to the rightwingers. It’s all about spite.

        • I think the gay marriage link above is an indication of one way it will go.

We’ll see state officials like Medicaid administrators and insurance commissioners refuse to follow federal mandates based on “religious” objections, and crooked judges issuing wildly broad injunctions.

I am eternally amazed by how much wilfull denial some members of target groups can go through to pretend that they personally will be exempt. Bari Weiss and Nellie Bowles will continue to pretend that the threat to their liberties is coming from a few Yale sophomores and not the GOP which is setting them up for arrest for being married. Even Clarence and Ginni Thomas had better watch their backs before they accept a vacation invitation from a Texas billionaire.

          • It will be interesting to see how “my religion keeps me from filling birth control prescriptions” goes to “my religion forbids me from tolerating birth control on the shelves of a store that I don’t own.”

Make no mistake, it absolutely will.

    • I would add, thanks to DECADES of shitty public health education in red states, lies from religious groups, and confusion over Dobbs, even if it’s on the shelves there’s going to be a lot of populations that still don’t use it.

I read an article today about how 24% of Missourians polled thought hormonal birth control was illegal or didn’t know if it was legal. Something like 40% thought IUDs were illegal.

  1. Yeah, let’s defund the IRS…

    WTF?

  2. A lot of fingers pointing at Discovery’s CEO Zaslav… “Mr 250 million in 2021”

He and his fellow execubots greed united two groups that traditionally don’t get along (performers and writers.)

    • That’s unfortunate for you. She is clearly very serious. I’m glad enough people could get over their misogynistic preference for a non nasal female voice to elect her as president of SAG-AFTRA.
