TGIF [DOT 20/12/24]

It’s the weekend of holiday parties! Luckily all of mine this weekend are on my street. Bday party tonight, caroling party tomorrow night, and cookie exchange on Sunday. My house is a disaster – thankfully I’m not hosting til Sunday so I should be able to get the place in shape by then. I’m putting out my creepy blow mold decorations from the 50s.

  1. It’s a Xmas miracle, no workplace violence by me! /extreme sarcasm/

Just glad I am done for the week.

/little child is back again to sniping like the shithead he is, but is slowly dawning on him that many folks but not management knows I hit him because he’s a fucking pathetic shithead (he likes to hide his real persona- a nasty crybaby troll)./

  2. Law and Disorder.  I thought being caught getting a 5 quid handjob by someone’s mum in a back alley was the wildest thing ever caught on a Google Maps photo.

/someone posted some NSFW Google Maps photos a while back and that was one of the wildest/

  3. Worst husband ever. I’m surprised Bill Cosby wasn’t involved or mentioned somehow.

    • I took next week off but I’m back the following. It’s actually nice to work the holidays because the weeks are short and everybody is gone.

    • likewise… no work til the 6th

probably going to accidentally let my phone run out of battery by sunday night tho

both my boss and my team lead are very surprised i have monday and tuesday off as they told people nobody would be able to get time off those days in like october

probably should check the schedule mates….i booked em off in january

suspect theyll still try to call me and ask me to pretty please come help out

    • Did I ever tell you all this wild story that one of my professors told us? He was Japanese, and his father apparently went to Hiroshima on business. He was on a tram when the A-bomb hit. He survived and somehow made his way back home, which was…Nagasaki. So the guy survived two A-bomb attacks. Someone should make a movie about this.

    • If you had a kid in the past couple of decades you know that head lice are pretty much immune to insecticidal shampoos.

  4. On the one hand, Trump is objectively correct in that the debt ceiling needs to be abolished, but not for the reasons he thinks.

On the other, this will be the issue that determines how compliant a Republican Congress will be, because this is literally the only political weapon they have.

    • Yep. For Democrats it’s a classic case of “don’t throw me in that briar patch.”

    • It may be a sign of how confident there will never be a Democrat they need to use it for. Which may be true, who knows, but that doesn’t mean some non-Democratic president goes apostate and they’ll wish they had it.

At any rate, the debt ceiling is another example of how the political press always gives the GOP the benefit of the doubt whenever they cry about government spending, until they do a 180. They’ve been showing bad faith since spending and deficits took off in the 1980s, but the press decided over 40 years to join in.

  5. This is cool – it’s a time lapse video of the Gordie Howe bridge between Detroit and Canada that is almost ready to open, funded mostly by Canadian capital.

This is an interesting time for a new border crossing, to say the least.

The backstory is unsurprisingly a story of rightwing kleptocrat monopolist obstructionism aided by fake libertarians.

The recently deceased owner of the only current bridge from Detroit was a huge Trump backer and donor to libertarian causes. If you own a trucking company, you had to pay his tolls.

So naturally he did everything in his power to stop the second bridge, and he even got a Koch family political organization to start an astroturf effort to try to generate opposition to the bridge on environmental grounds, just like the Kochs recruited RFK Jr. to fight wind turbines off Martha’s Vinyard for fake environmental reasons.

But the backers of the second bridge persevered and now it’s set to open next year.

    • You gotta pay the troll toll to get into Murrica’s Soul/hole?

Fuck the troll and his troll toll.

  6. Can you imagine if the Dems did this how much press it would get?

  7. Merry fucking Christmas if you’re a Party City employee. They announced today they’re closing effective immediately and employees should consider today their last day.
