  1. …so…it’s gone out…& he seems to be holding it what I’d think of as the wrong way round…but…that’s a joint mr the-sun-is-cold-actually is waving about, right?

    …I’ve heard it called a gateway drug more than a few times but I never really thought about it making you think the earth is flat…more that maybe it might be a good idea to find somewhere that is & having a bit of a lie down…so…maybe it shouldn’t have but that felt somehow incongruous

    …would have been hard pressed myself not to go for the low hanging fruit of asking if the earth is flat, then how high are you right now?

          If you take ’em up in any sort of aircraft, they’re gonna blame the curvature on the “glass” in the windows… take ’em up without glass, they’re gonna blame it on their goggles… take ’em up without goggles, and they’ll blame the pressure (or lack thereof) on their eyeballs–for making it *appear* to be curved…

          The problem is the gaping, windy, chasm in their skulls, where their brain ought to reside–and *that* means there IS no “logic-ing” them out of their idiocy, because they have sunk EVERYTHING they *are* into their fallacies.🙃

  2. Sam thought he was the shit of confidence men everywhere and could bullshit his way out of trouble. Instead his lousy testimony turned his jury trial to lead to the fastest guilty verdicts ever.

    Initially, I felt a bit bad for the Trump kids because they looked so pathetic but then I remembered that they enabled their scumbag dad as well as the horrible things they’ve said and done… suddenly I didn’t feel bad anymore.

    • I think Adams is incredibly sloppy. I wouldn’t write off the possibility that he’s in real trouble.

      The Trumps are brazen but they learned from Grandpa Fred how to layer themselves with lawyers and accountants to develop alibis. I don’t know if Adams is nearly as good at this stuff.

  6. Most days I feel like I’ve got nothing left on gun rampages. I’m just numb now. And then you have a situation where authorities were explicitly told that he was going to shoot people, and did nothing.

    Every. single. person. who ignored those warnings should be arrested as an accessory to murder. It won’t happen, of course. But it should.

  7. Dan Alexander’s reporting on the Trump fraud trial has been really good. He knows the Trump business as well as almost anyone, which gives him the ability to make judgments others can’t.

    He understands how badly Eric in particular has done. The DA team is shredding his denials with documentation. And it’s worth pointing out again that Trump has already lost the case, and this is now about the damages.

    They’re getting the kids on the record to box in Daddy, and he hates that. He’s likely to undercut the alibis even more, and make any claims of disinvolvement and lack of intent impossible to sustain, making the damages more likely to rise.

    12:02 p.m.: An interesting dynamic is unfolding here. Eric is accustomed to doing interviews with the media. He has far less experience being on a witness stand in open court. Under questioning, he is answering yes-or-no questions with expansive, and arguably evasive, responses. The judge offers a little coaching, which he has provided to several witnesses in this trial: If it’s a yes or no question, just answer “yes” or “no.” Eric responds politely: “Thank you.”

    12:10 p.m.: The attorney general’s office is pressing Eric to confirm that a particular document was referring to his father’s net-worth statements. Eric appears to be getting frustrated, as the attorney continues to examine him. “Not my question,” says the lawyer from the attorney general’s office. Eric responds, “I think it was.” The judge disagrees with Eric: “That didn’t answer your question.”

    12:24 p.m.: The lawyer with the attorney general’s office appears to be getting a little tense as well. “That. Wasn’t. My. Question,” he says at one point. The judge weighs in: “I agree, that did not answer the question.”

    12:28 p.m.: This is now getting damning. The attorney general’s office pulls up an email to Eric Trump from Jeff McConney, who helped prepare Donald Trump’s net-worth statements. “Hi Eric,” the lawyer reads. “I’m working on your dad’s annual financial statement. I need to value Seven Springs. Attached please find how we valued it last year, and let me know when you have time to talk.” This seems to undercut Eric’s testimony that he “never had anything to do with the statement of financial condition.”

    2:41 p.m.: This is getting rough for Eric. The attorney general’s office is juxtaposing a series of documents with statements Eric made during his sworn deposition and testimony he is now giving in open court. There seems to be contradiction after contradiction.

    4:15 p.m.: The attorney general’s office is noting apparent contradictions in Eric Trump’s testimony. In his deposition, Eric said, “I really haven’t been involved in appraisal work on this property.” But the state has displayed multiple pieces of evidence that show he was involved. Eric says he stands by his previous testimony, but also admits, “I was clearly involved,” insisting his involvement was minimal.
