Hi, friends!

What’s your drink of choice lately? Anything fun?

I’ve been slowly working through a big pack of Captain Morgan fruity canned malt beverages. They’ve very sweet*, but also thanks to using “flavors” vs actual fruit puree or juice, I can enjoy a few flavors that I have mild allergies to in real life without getting a rash around my mouth.

I’ve also got a real nice oolong I’ve been brewing for my morning tea. I can get three solid brews out of the same leaves, it’s been delightful.

*I enjoy sweet alcoholic drinks, so when I say it’s sweet, it’s really sweet.

  1. I’m still enjoying Wildwonder. I don’t believe it has helped my gut as they claim. The flavor combos are fun and fruity. They have also made their way into my white wine. They add the perfect amount of sparkle and sweetness. One can makes two glasses of white wine sangria.

    • Those remind me of those Poppi sodas that are “healthy.”

      I enjoy them as beverages, but they’re not magically improving my intestines.

  2. Vermouth and sparkling water with a twist of lemon is nice in the summer.

  3. I don’t drink, but if I did I would be willing to try some nice sweet fruity drink.

    Way back when, I preferred whiskey neat, but it didn’t do me any good whatsoever.

  4. I met some friends for beers today.  One of the highlights was a Cloudburst beer called Beware of the Undertow.  They are one of Seattle’s & the world’s best IPA brewers.  They are also some crazy stoners that have the best beer descriptions…

    Canned on 6/25/24 DDH NZWCIPA Feel that? That pull? It’s outside your control. It exists whether you acknowledge it or ignore it (we do not recommend the latter). It feels kind of dangerous, a force bigger than you, that only nature and the moon can dictate. It’s constant, rhythmic, distinct – as subtle as it is assertive. It demands respect or you will pay the price. We’ve seen it firsthand. You’ve been warned…about New Zealand style IPAs, like this one, brewed with Nelson, Riwaka, & a lil Mosaic. It will spray you with aromatics of white grape & beach grass, suck you in with intense passionfruit and waste your pallet with that pithy resinous bite.

      • I think they only have 1 beer they ever repeat.  The owner/head brewer Steve was the best brewer at Elysian when they sold to InBev, he started his own thing.  The Shilshole brewery has an amazing food truck w/ dumplings & noodles.
