    The Lizzo lawsuit is upsetting. For so many women she was  an example of positivity and empowerment. There are some aspects, like the phone of a disabled person being taken so a rehearsal/meeting recording could be deleted, that I call bullshit on. That could have been handled better but it’s standard in industry contracts to not allow any recording. And the person doing the recording would have known and agreed to that. Unfortunately there are too many other people saying much of it is true. And I’m already seeing comments elsewhere saying things like this is how fat and Black women behave. And we have to push back against that. She’s one person not the representative for the entire body positive and Black communities.

    • I think there’s some double standards happening where some shit wouldn’t be remarked upon if a man were the artist with female dancers.

      That being said, yeah agreed with you that there’s clear evidence for most of the claims being legit.

      A lot of it also sounds like she and her team didn’t have a person around to tell them NO on bad ideas. Like you want to go to a club in Amsterdam and fuck around? Ok fine but not everyone has to go. That sort of thing.

      • For sure. I’m not saying we should excuse her because there’s a history of men behaving this way, but also, let’s not pretend they haven’t been celebrated for these kinds of antics for years. I think there’s also an expectation that as a large woman, she’s supposed to be more grateful for her success than say, Beyonce, sweeter and kindly. As if upending stereotypes wasn’t part of her purpose.

    • Absolutely! I liked that article because it calls out that we should not be talking about her body or the dancer’s bodies. The rest of the online world is not so conscious of their biases. Lizzo will still be torn down at the intersection of her race, body size, gender etc.

      I’m sure Leo DickCaprio and his infamous Pussy Possy have done worse and have pressured the men around them to participate and not gotten sued.

  4. Has anyone seen peach pits this year? They haven’t been normal, my wife said she got them from different places and still the pits just aren’t right, or aren’t like they have been, that I have noticed. Some just don’t have pits at all, or the pits are weird… I just opened one up and the knife went through the pit easily and then the pit had like mold and gel in it, just wondering if anyone has had any similar experiences?

    • I bought some California nectarines from Costco in June that had normal pits for those.

      All the peaches I’ve bought have been local orchards* here in Missouri. Most of the early varieties here are clingstone so I haven’t had that many freestone peaches. Two weeks ago the batch was freestone and they were normal.

      I will say in years past I’ve had that experience where sometimes a knife goes through the pit and it’s moldy inside from store bought peaches.

      *to be clear, I’m not claiming the local Missouri peaches are somehow fancy. I assume the varieties grown here don’t ship well because nobody ever in other states are like wow Missouri peaches!

  7. I just got thrown under a bus at work and wowww did the day get crazy because of it! Like my boss knows what’s what so I’m not worried about any consequences but also goodbyeeeee plans for a normal Thursday.
