  1. At first I thought the cartoon header said “Sausage Chickens”. I might need breakfast….

      • I just mentioned within the last week that I love political campaign manifestos. I also love memoirs. I used to have a copy of Reich’s “Locked in the Cabinet,” which is about his time as Clinton’s Secretary of Labor.

It was full of ill-considered phrases. So much so that I highlighted and post-it noted some of the choicest ones. (To get the title right I had to go to wikipedia, which reports that it was also filled with made-up conversations that the publisher removed from the paperback edition.)

My favorite line was about his confirmation hearing. It wasn’t going well but Ted Kennedy steered the conversation around and Reich was confirmed. Reich wrote, “I was drowning and Ted Kennedy threw me a life preserver.”

HOW DID THE EDITOR LET THAT INTO PRINT?

I wish I still had it (I get these things for free or very little money and then toss them) because there were others along those lines.

        • OMG! That’s incredible, lol.

    • Every time the repubs are in power – they loot the american government and the taxpayers. That is their raison d’etre.

  2. For those that expressed interest in the outcome, I spoke to my buddy that “showed interest” in a rally to stop protestors on Capital Hill on July 4th. As I had hoped, it was a total mistake. He clicked on something before he read it because he trusted the source and then found out what it was. Sounds like he got shit from everyone over it. I’ll take him at his word & chalk it up to Facebook sucks balls!

    • It sucks when you find out someone you like is an asshole. Glad it wasn’t the case this time.

    • Okay, how long before Trump starts attacking the Supreme Court with half-assed tweets?

          • Well, now we know. Who had 17 minutes in the Deadsplinter Trump Tweet pool?

      • He’ll go after them but he will be reinforcing his image as a guy who can’t deliver what he promised.

I think the worst fallout will be all of weak takes that Roberts is a moderate swing voter. Kennedy got that reputation based on about 2% of his votes, because the press hates reporting how reactionary the right-wing five justices are, and loves writing off the minority as simple partisans.

  3. I’m also a Dodo masochist. I click intending to watch a couple of cute videos and end up devastated by a sad rescue story. I’ll never learn.

  4. welp…i guess we wont meet again this time

rest in peace dame vera lynn

      • oh for sure…and far as i know she was healthy for pretty much all of it
still got me in the feels….i think it might be a hardwired into me genes kinda thing as im british :p

        • …if you haven’t already found it the BBC has a bunch of Vera-related stuff to be nostalgic over…she was a pretty amazing lady, really

          • yeah ive been nosing around there…dutch news also has a bunch of stuff up as we kinda adopted her over here… we’ll meet again is the last song played at the liberation day festivals and everybody knows the words…its fun

  5. Today in @MattGertz is *NOT* @MattGatez😉😆😂🤣;

I know some of y’all haaaaate Twitter.
And I don’t deny that it CAN be an absolute cesspool.

But I love it, because it CAN be a really useful tool, if you cultivate your feed nice & hard, and for the absolute gems like Gertz

The poor man has to deal with it from folks who do.not.proofread entirely too often, but like Mark Zuckerman, who covers the Nat’s, he takes it all in stride, then dishes things out/back in the proper direction😉😁
