Simple one. What’s your favorite TV decade and what shows span that decade?
Is the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s or the so-called Golden Age of Cable TV (Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Walking Dead, the Sopranos, The Expanse, Game of Thrones, The Wire etc etc).
For me, it’s the 90s barely. The decade before reality TV wiped away most everything.
I probably watched my most tv in the 90s so that doesn’t help. The top of my list of favorite 90s shows is Babylon 5 (the show I judge SF TV against.) The X-Files. Star Trek The Next Generation hit its stride after 2-3 awful seasons. Quantum Leap. Sliders. The Pretender. Melrose Place (till it got really terrible- when crazy redhead Kimberly (Marcia Cross) blew up the apartment complex.) The Simpsons. Married With Children. Third Rock from the Sun. That 70’s Show (early seasons). Seinfeld.
There was a lot of decent dramas and sitcoms around (the best years of the Simpsons and Married With Children for example) even if you weren’t a hard SF nerd like me.
The shows could be edgy, but not like today.
Or anything else you want to rant about today…
I continue to scream into void about Israel and its ongoing genocide of Palestinians and now they are doing the same to Lebanon. It’s why you don’t see me around here as often anymore. I’m tired.

We’re 100% the baddies here in the States. We’re funding it and silencing/punishing dissent.
no different here… protests were dealt with….and for reasons of the legally binding kind apparently we cant stop shipping them parts for the f-35s and whatever else

No, it’s not easy. Until Israel stops itself or something else does. We’re all powerless. Still miss your insights though.

there was like 10 years where i was reasonably caught up to what was on tv…..
i really dont watch much tv….and even with the streaming now…i still dont

Me too. I find that I can’t sit around much these days. Restless or old age or just the constant dirge of work.
I don’t watch much sports anymore because I have no time.
For network shows 70s for sitcoms and 90s for dramas. I’d probably go with the 2010s for prestige TV dramas, although the previous decade was close. Things have definitely tailed off for the 2020s.
The 2020s reek. There are still some good shows. It’s not like the 90s didn’t have terrible TV like Home Boys From Outer Space or The Lone Gunmen
Reality TV still won’t go away.
Does anyone watch network TV anymore?
Abbott Elementary is a good network sitcom. I think Ghosts is pretty good. Surprisingly I’ve read that Young Sheldon was actually pretty good while it was around. None of them were fancy, but they were engaging and pretty cheap to produce.
It seems like network execs are convinced those are mistakes and they will make sure never to let them happen again.
