Did you ever believe in UFOs, Samsquanch (Trailer Park Boys Reference), Lizard People or other out worldy phenomena?
When I was a young kid I certainly did because I was stupid and didn’t know any better, but as I grew up and learned things like science and history belief in that phenomena diminished into an embarrassing childhood memories.
As a young boy, I certainly believed in Sasquatch aka Samsquanch aka Bigfoot aka Yeti aka Six Million Dollar Man alien protector. That was till I learned that animals pooped in the forest as a Boy Scout (to be fair, that should have occurred to me sooner.) That simple fact got me thinking… If there is a big eight foot tall beast such as Sasquatch then there should be massive turds that come from the big butts of Sasquatches. The fact that we can find animals based on their turds alone and that humans have been unable to find dumps from an eight foot tall hominid should make us wonder if those stories of Sasquatch are full of… er… shit.
Missing turds has been the main basis of my argument alone with people who still do believe in Sasquatch. They have been unable to come up with something that makes sense to counter it.
So, Deadsplinterites what did you believe in and what changed your mind? Or what conspiracies do you believe in? Or anything that comes to mind?
i believe in everything..even god
sort of
i know theres a fuck load more i dont know than what i do know…and history says most of what i know will eventually turn out to be wrong
fuck it i will find out when im dead….unless i wont
I don’t claim to know much and I acknowledge mysteries in the universe that mankind doesn’t understand or know.
Some of it just doesn’t pass the science test. Loch Ness for example… or Big Feet.
Aliens, probably, but I don’t know if humans will ever meet them or live long enough to.
if there is intelligent life out there they are avoiding us
if we are it
well….that sucks
theres gotta be something smarter than us out there……
I believed in aliens like X-Files aliens as a kid, full stop.
Adult me still believes there has to be other life in the universe because we’re not that special.
I’m generally a skeptic. Except for UFOs, Sasquatch, The Nine, and skinwalkers, and anything written by the (one-time) living mystery machine James Shelby Downard. That shit is all true. Not the weird racist stuff he got into late in life though. He went so far round the bend that he went back in time.
Did you know that towards the end of his life, Jack Kerouac hung around with James Shelby Downard in Florida and Kerouac also became a frothing nazi racist?
Here is a link to an excerpt from the extremely strange essay by Downard, KING-KILL 33 about the JFK assassination.
There has has recently been some research that posits James Shelby Downard never really existed, or that he was a literary construct by wacky Southern novelist Harry Crews (who is a rabbit hole all by himself). Me, I have questions.

Also, the Illuminati. Those guys are real.
Having read Kerouac’s novel On the Road , finding out he became a frothing nazi later in life is completely unsurprising.
I can believe there is something weird going on with UFOs, but I’d put the odds at a million to one it’s human tests and not aliens.
Yeah if another species is smart enough to figure out interstellar travel, they’re not going to be spotted hanging out in the sky over a Dollar General or wherever.
I used to read UFO Comics as a kid. They always freaked me out especially when I read about the Mantel Incident.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mantell_UFO_incident
I was led to believe by the comic that a UFO shot him down, but the reality was the pilot Captain Mantel blacked out from a lack of oxygen (his F-51D Mustang didn’t have a working high altitude oxygen system at the time) and crashed.
Later I read a pile of UFO books, but they would tie vague things together.
I think there are aliens, but I don’t know about alien anal probes.
In further unexplained behavior, I was just sitting in the porch and three rabbits started chasing each other back and forth and back and forth in front of me. The internet claims they were just playing, but I assume there was some kind of psychic phenomenon going on.
I believed in Bigfoot for a long time. There was some scary B movie trailer that used to play all the time that had some teenager sitting on a couch that backed up to a huge window. Bigfoot’s arms would come shooting through and grab at the teen. Scared the crap out of me. Ever since then, I can’t sit with my back to a window.
Also, for years I thought I had an actual run in with Bigfoot. We used to play hide and seek at night while our parents cooked out in the neighborhood. I was one of those kids that liked to hide so that No one found me. On one particular night, I tucked myself into a thicket(that was actually a fort for us) not too far into the woods. It was taking a super long time for anyone to find me and all of a sudden I heard something move behind me and felt  breathing on the back of my neck. I took off so fast out of there and was too scared to look back. I literally thought I was dead. To this day, I have no idea what it was. Probably someone’s horse. I think I was about 10.
That might have been the movie.
Were there any wild animals around? Around here they get pretty acclimated to people.
We played in those woods all the time and never ran into anything – not even bears. Sometimes we would have packs of wild dogs running around – but they would usually run at you and attack you. There was a horse pasture further up the road – which is why I thought it might be a horse. Could have been anything – maybe an opossum.
One time my friends and I saw some escaped convicts traveling along the creek in the same woods. I think our screaming got them caught. That was a few years earlier than the “Bigfoot” encounter.
I’d probably run like hell screaming if I were in your position.
I remember one time I saw the trailer for the horror movie “Fun House” on TV then a couple of months later I went to a local carnival that had a “fun house” with my family. My imagination took over in the fun house (it wasn’t really scary but I didn’t think so at the time) and I flipped out.
I ran out of the fun house screaming at the top of my lungs. I was 9 or so.
I ran like hell – but I did not scream. I guess I was too terrified. I can’t remember now if I told my parents about it or not.
I watched a lot of “In Search Of” with Leonard Nimoy which was in his “I’m Not Spock” Phase when I was a wee kid.
“Theories and Conjecture”
I was always glued to the TV set on Sat Night. Dr Who on TVO then a whole hour of “In Search Of” then followed by more horror… the 3rd period of usually the Toronto Maple Loafs game on Hockey Night In Canada during the late 70s/80s.
I loved In Search Of – so creepy and interesting. I rewatched all of them sometime last year – not gonna lie – still pretty creepy.
More bad cheez TV. I loved this Jack Webb (yesh, same Jack Webb) TV show from the late 70s.
