  2. I went to see Barbie. While I enjoyed it, it’s somewhat uneven. It’s hard to explain why I feel that way without getting into spoilers. I will say that it’s pretty surreal. If you’re looking for a tightly plotted movie, this ain’t it. You have to be willing to just go with stuff.

  3. The infant mortality rate spike is heartbreaking and enraging. All those families made to suffer immeasurably more by being forced to carry nonviable fetuses to term. Abortion bans are cruel and inhumane.

    • Forced birthers don’t care how much suffering they cause. They simply want to dominate and control women. As the saying goes, the cruelty is the point. And I’m not just condemning men here. The vast majority of anti-abortion activists I’ve ever seen or met (I’m talking about the ones who stand in front of clinics) have been women.

      There was a clinic a couple of blocks away from a library my wife used to work at. I’ve seen far more of these maniacs than I ever wanted to. They even launched a protest of the library because women were parking there and walking to the clinic. It fizzled because it was municipal property and the local government couldn’t do anything about people parking on public property (though I suspect they would have if it was within their power).

    As a general marketing rule, abandoning a highly recognizable brand that’s worked its way into common speech (“tweet”) is a very bad idea. It typically is a last-ditch Hail Mary play. Even Zuck didn’t try to rebrand Facebook — he just put it under a new brand umbrella.

    That’s completely separate from the issue of naming something ‘X’, the stupidity of which is self-evident. 

        • He stays rich because there are alllllllways suckers who buy his “I’m a Genius, and you could be like me!” shtick, and who are also always gonna be willing to give him more money/access to more money.

           

          ‘Cuz those folks are too dumb to look at any depth into the dolt’s history of blundering ever onward, as he runs things into the ground & get himself pushed out, while *still* taking all the credit for actions made by the folks *under* him.

          Basically, Elon was the white upper-class son of an eventually rich-rich man, who has then managed to keep failing ever-upward, throughout the course of his work-lifetime.
