This weekend was way too short, don’t you think?
Rip claimed it was a day of rest, but gave us a lot of links to ponder.
Feel free to catch up there and then see what else is going on below.
Sunday was pretty slow in the news department anyway.
This is why we can’t have nice things.

…it’s too much to hope for that anyone will repeat this kind of performance with Dolt45 should he deservedly lose the election…but can you imagine how satisfying it would be if they did?

I once had to contact the New Zealand consulate in Los Angeles. Why is not important. I talked to a lovely young woman and asked her about, among other things, New Zealand place names and how to spell them. At some point she said, in her very heavy New Zealand accent layered with a little SoCal vocal upspeak, that it might be easier if I put together an email and send it to her and she promised to respond promptly. Which she did. Some of those Maori place names…
1. WOW, I knew Sid had tons of *MN* sprotz-history, but I guess i didn’t realize folks *outside* MN would know how loved/loathed (it really WAS both, and I’m pretty sure he LOVED that it was both!😉💖), he was.
Sid was a solid writer, and obviously an institution here, and it’s gonna be strange, not seeing folks get riled up by his writing anymore… all my life, he’s been alternately loved/reviled…
I admit, as a woman who grew up loving sprotz, I stopped paying any attention to his writing a couple decades back, because the whole sexism & “the U shouldn’t dial back men’s sprotz, just to fund wimmenz!” was simply BS–ESPECIALLY that late after Title IX… but Yeah, I DID understand that he’s an institution–at least here, locally.
Here’s a good AP writeup on him, too:

On a TOTALLY different note–while I LOVE that Nick Cage jacket, the fact that the Angel Wings on the back are sewn on wrong** drives me aesthetically BATTY. Because if those wings were 3-D, they wouldn’t function properly–they’d be attaching at the *outer* part of his back, and opening inward, toward the middle of his back–making it impossible for them to unfurl properly/completely unable to fly…
These are the things one notices, after spending 20-ish years of your life sewing-for-a-living, and reading fashion renderings like the garment blueprints that they are😉🤣💖
Do you KNOW how many times over the years, i had to walk out to our designers/customer service folks, when i worked at the dance/skate/cheer-wear company, and say, “It is physically impossible to get the fabric your customer has chosen, to do *what they want it to do,* in THAT particular location on a human body, and to still be able to MOVE that body, in any way, shape, or form…. You need to re-design this (points to area on rendering), or y’all needa choose another fabric, because *this* seam is going to rip out completely, the first time the person wearing this dress does this.” (moves slightly, to show how the garment will either act as a straight jacket, OR shread at indicated seam).
(**if ya look closely, the wing on the right *should* be sewn on the left, and vice-versa, at least as far as “shape of wing, to placement of human scapula bones & arcing curve at the top of the wing” goes)
Maybe I’m obtuse, but wouldn’t that depend on whether you were looking at the top of the wing or the underside?
*shrugs*
…don’t know about obtuse but it seems like an acute point…although I was assuming that if they’re flat to his back that would mean the wings are furled & we’d be looking at the obverse surface rather than the reverse…unless that ought to be transverse in the case of a flapping wing…see, now you’ve got me all confused…so clearly it’s time to consult experts on the whole birds-flying thing
His twitter game is pretty decent!
