Tonight’s theme is when you felt a bait and switch over the course of something. Like a band had two good albums then the third one sucked. Or a TV show where a season was just shit after you got hooked.
What prompted this NOT is that I finally finished season 3 of The Witcher on Netflix and wow I don’t know if it followed any of the books’ plots at all but it was some shitty plots and writing. It felt like whoever wrote the later episodes didn’t watch other episodes or talk to eachother while they were writing episodes. Also I guess a lot of people had limited contracts because there was a lot of character deaths that really weren’t necessary and seem to be limiting a lot of plot options for any future seasons. I know Henry Cavill supposedly left the series to focus on being Superman (womp womp, that did not work out well for him) but goddamn good decision to jump ship there.
We were gone all day visiting out daughter and went out to an Indian restaurant.
They had a robot that delivered the food and the verdict? Bait and switch! I’m on the side of the skeptics in this article.

They still had a person to unload and serve the food,which tells me that they have a lot of confusion over which dish is which that needs a server to sort out.
It ends up just being a self propelled cart, which I’m not sure how it’s better than a regular cart or just a tray.
I guess maybe in a few niches they might make sense but I’m struggling to see much value.
We have an automated material delivery robot delivering material from the warehouse to the production rooms.
I think it’s a fucked up piece of shit that caused us more work due to the many work arounds needed to prevent it from glitching, but management doesn’t want to hear about the problems because they have to justify the 4 mil it cost them to bring in this failure of a dim sum restaurant robot and they’re very thin skinned to criticism (apparently, it stung them when they heard about the workers calling them “Team Stupid.”)

It definitely comes across as a solution in search of a problem.
I have a friend that works in corporate for Amazon & he speaks of a robot that brings them beer on Friday. Wanders around the office offering beers! Is it a trap? Doesn’t seem like it since he is of the “hell yeah” variety but maybe if you don’t feel safe in your position you might be wary of R2Beer2 ratting you out?
I’ve been to restaurants that have caller buttons on the table and the staff doesn’t come around unless called. I don’t mind that at all, especially when you’re in a chatty group, it’s great.

I suspect somebody invested a ton in these and they’re now at the point where they’re basically leasing them for free to inexpensive restaurants just to make a case to investors that there is demand for the product.
I’m underwhelmed that the weekend is almost over. As a member in good standing of the Church of the Conjoined Sabbath I feel that this is religious discrimination.
It’s some bullshit for sure, we need another weekend day.
I was not happy with dad today. I mentioned all week that I was going to take him to visit mom at the hospital. Today I showed up and he told me he didn’t want to go.
I was annoyed and if I were my dad then I would have thrown a temper tantrum right there (he used to blow his stack with us when we didn’t want to go anywhere… ironic I guess), but I cooled down and just let him be (no point in pushing an old man to do something he don’t want to.) When I left he started talking to someone in Korean and she was replying in Italian.
Instead I went to visit mom solo. Unlike the past trips it only took me an hour and 15 minutes to get home because I took a less shitty crowded/ineptly driven route (go north, not-that-young-ish man!) home.
Mom was doing better. She had a conversation with herself in Korean, but she was happy to walk with me. Half way thru the visit, another dementia patient grabbed my hand and wanted to walk with us so I was slowly walking around with two old ladies for a while till she got tired and wanted to sit down.
I left when meal time (aka chaos) was about to happen.
My wife’s dad was in a place while he was in hospice with a dementia patient that would walk around naked or open robed in all the common areas & rooms of other patients. It was scary when my wife’s brother found her out in the cul-de-sac in front of the home unmonitored. You are a good person to help out & not just let them wander by themself.
So you met the need of someone else a little bit too – bonus karma points.
4 day work days (which may or may not even take hold in the USA) are a bait and switch. In Europe, they kept the 8 hour workday and just eliminated a day from the schedule (same salary). But here (BECAUSE SHAREHOLDERS) they want to make it a 10 hour day, 4 days a week. I’d rather eat my hat than work 10 hr days. That sounds exhausting. We always have to fuck things up in this country.
